The job in short

As part of a close-knit Backbase team, you work with Product Owners and other stakeholders from our customer banks to understand and define project requirements that align with the Backbase product. 

Alongside your professional services colleagues (known as Customer Success) you guide the development team that implements our product to realise the customer’s digital transformation.

Meet the job

You will be a member of a team that takes the Backbase product, configures it to support the customer’s goals, delivering portals for their end-customers and internal users.

You are part of a customer facing core team, working alongside a technical Solution Architect and Project Manager. You work with other members of the Customer Success department — UXers, Developers, QAs. Additionally, you connect with members of the Backbase product team (aka R&D) - including Product Managers and Owners.

Externally, you partner with the Product Owners working at our customer banks. Our customers see you as a trusted digital banking business consultant and expert on the Backbase product.

The Senior Analyst is expected to:

  • Understand the customer’s business and functional objectives;
  • Write detailed functional requirements which align closely with the Backbase product, in close collaboration with the customer, using use case specifications or user stories with strong acceptance criteria;
  • Help the banks’ product owner to prioritise these requirements;
  • Perform gap analysis work for business requirements and business processes;
  • Act as "product owner" within Backbase to guide the project team, making the right choices to maximise project and customer success;
  • Act as a trusted consultant to your customers;
  • Ensure the customer stays as close to the Backbase product as possible.

It is vital that you can encourage and influence your stakeholders to stick as closely as possible to the ‘out of the box’ Backbase product, minimising customisations which can slow down time to market and complicate routine maintenance and upgrade work.

Skills and Knowledge:

Essential:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience as a business analyst; 
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in client facing positions;
  • Digital banking expert: Experienced with both mobile and web end-customer facing portals;
  • Experienced at guiding stakeholders to adopt a product solution (minimising custom code development);
  • Excellent communicator: Strong written and verbal English skills;
  • Comfortable interacting with stakeholders at various levels inside and outside of your organisation;
  • Writing high quality epics, user stories and acceptance criteria;
  • Experienced in requirements management, business process modelling & notation (BPMN) and development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, Waterfall);
  • Perseverance and pragmatism to solve complex problems;
  • Ability to work:
    • Under pressure;
    • In a multicultural, international environment;
  • Flexible about work location: 
    • Willing to work on-site alongside your team and with your customers;
    • Able to travel abroad, sometimes for long periods of time;
    • Working from home is an option at other times.

Desirable:

  • Working for a SaaS company;
  • Experienced in project management tools.
