As a CAD Manager you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the use of computer-aided design software and tools within an organization. You’ll play a crucial role in ensuring that CAD systems are utilized efficiently and effectively to support design and engineering projects.
What you will be doing:
- CAD System Management: responsible for managing and maintaining the organization's CAD software and systems. This includes installing, configuring, and upgrading CAD software, ensuring compatibility with hardware and operating systems, and troubleshooting technical issues.
- CAD Standards Development: develops and implements CAD standards and best practices to ensure consistency, efficiency, and quality across design and engineering projects. Establish guidelines for file organization, naming conventions, layering standards, and other CAD-related processes.
- Training and Support: provides training and support to CAD users within the organization. Conduct workshops, create training materials, and offer guidance on CAD software usage, techniques, and workflows. They also provide technical assistance and troubleshoot user issues.
- Project Collaboration: facilitate collaboration between different departments or teams involved in design and engineering projects. Ensure that CAD files are shared and accessed appropriately, and they may oversee the implementation of project data management systems or document control processes.
- CAD Software Evaluation: stays updated with the latest CAD software developments and evaluates new tools and technologies for potential adoption within the organization. Assess software capabilities, compatibility, and cost-effectiveness, and make recommendations for software procurement or upgrades.
- Budgeting and Resource Planning: collaborates with management to develop budgets for CAD software, hardware, and training needs. Identify resource requirements, track expenses, and optimize resource allocation to meet project demands efficiently.
- Quality Assurance: ensures the accuracy and quality of CAD deliverables. Conduct regular audits of CAD files, review design standards compliance, and implement quality control processes to minimize errors and inconsistencies.
The Ante:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, computer science, or something similar
- 8+ years of relevant experience
- Proficiency in CAD software

- Comprehensive knowledge of industry-standard software tools (Autodesk, Bentley, Bluebeam, Esri, etc.)
- Experience collaborating with software development teams
- Strong technical skills and knowledge of CAD software installation, configuration, and troubleshooting
- Experience in developing and implementing CAD standards and best practices
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to provide training and support to CAD users
- Project management skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and coordinate resources
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail

It is our expectation that the salary will be somewhere in the middle of this range.
This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential and can fluctuate above or below the posted range. If there is an offer, the salary presented will consider several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, and training. Base pay is just one piece of the compensation package offered by Wood Rodgers.
