Assistant Engineer

Wood Rodgers is hiring a civil engineer to join our Land Development Division located in Pleasanton, CA.  We are looking for E.I.T certified people, or the ability to get within 6 months, to prepare engineering studies for grading, sanitary sewer, drainage and water systems, preparation of construction plans, and cost estimates for infrastructure improvements including roads, sewer and water systems, grading, and drainage facilities for a variety of private projects.  Project assignments may include entitlement/tentative maps and subdivisions and site developments and infrastructure planning.  Duties require ability to perform engineering analyses and prepare related reports such as hydraulic analyses, alternatives analyses and development of designs using Computer Aided Design (AutoCAD) applications.

What you will be doing

  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure project objectives are met efficiently and effectively.
  • Conduct preliminary studies and site investigations to gather data for project planning and design.
  • Assist in the preparation of design calculations, drawings, and specifications using CAD software.
  • Perform technical analyses and simulations to evaluate the feasibility and performance of engineering solutions.
  • Prepare technical reports, and other project documentation as required.
  • And of course, “other duties as assigned.”

 The Ante

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
  • 0 to 3 years of experience performing the essential duties listed above. 
  • Knowledge of civil engineering principles, practices, and methods.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil3D is preferred
  • Skilled in the use of computers for Microsoft Office Suite.

Things we’d like to see

  • E.I.T. Certification; or ability to get it within 6 months.
  • Ability to gather, organize and analyze engineering data.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work as a member of an engineering team.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

It is our expectation that the salary will be somewhere in the middle of this range.

This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential and can fluctuate above or below the posted range. If there is an offer, the salary presented will consider several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure and certifications, and training. Base pay is just one piece of the compensation package offered by Wood Rodgers.
