General Position Summary

The W+K Studios Resident will be expected to collaborate with creatives, makers and production stakeholders to concept and develop; research and support film/video and experiential content and events. This may vary from researching technique, logistics, artists and influencers, presentation production; camera/video work, crew support to writing, producing and directing and editing films. This requires creative and craft expertise in running crew on set, camera lighting and composition, editing graphic design.

 

Major Responsibilities/Primary Functions

  • Receives, prioritizes and fulfills daily requests for media compression, DVD burning, online spot posting, and miscellaneous production related tasks
  • Archives digital masters of all finished agency work in accordance to established formatting specs, and helps to maintain & ensure integrity of cataloged assets & metadata on Archive Server and Archive Web Portal for easy accessibility for clients and employees
  • Forecasts and tracks hours and expenses related to all W+K Studios work; collaborates with appropriate Business Affairs Manager, Studio Manager, Producer or AE to create estimates and ensure costs are built into production budgets
  • Uses necessary software tools (eg,Avid, Premiere, Pro Tools, After Effects, Unity, etc) to produce content (including presentation and pitch videos, mood videos, award show videos, web content, new business pitches & other internal projects) as needed
  • Uses cameras to capture BTS footage of productions, campaigns, and digital executions, and to shoot product shots, interviews, and live events and meetings as needed
  • Responsible for PA duties (props, meals, schedule coordination, etc.) for internal shoots and edits as needed  
  • Develops and draws upon in-depth knowledge of W+K culture, history, clients, and body of work
  • Optimizes, formats, and QC’s finished content for online & mobile distribution, presentation embedding, and general archiving
  • Works with New Business, Digital, and Broadcast to create and maintain technical spec recommendations for digital video deliveries
  • Conducts footage searches and curates creative assets as needed for various editorial projects and presentations
  • Works with all stakeholders to shoot/capture/create and edit content for client approved web/tv/other productions
  • Builds and maintains a living library of appropriate and relevant stock footage for internal use and reference
  • Records television programs and pulls clips from websites upon request
  • Assists with tracking, upkeep, and maintenance of production equipment including cameras, audio recorders, decks, etc.
  • Stays abreast of cultural, technological and industry trends and through industry websites, magazines; collects cool stuff from the web and new directors to produce a weekly “this is cool stuff” segment in association with Broadcast department’s wiki page

 

Qualifications, Distinguishing Characteristics and Special Requirements

  • Proficient in necessary software tools: Adobe Creative Suite, Avid, Final Cut, Black Magic camera and workflow, Unity, Alexa camera and lenses, basic lighting; production sound
  • Active and requested participant in ideation, development and production process
  • Able to autonomously produce a treatment deck, approach and run a small crew
  • Active collaborator with cross functional team
  • Brings new ideas, approaches, POV to table
  • Basic understanding of camera, lighting and editing gear and software
  • Ability to communicate ideas effectively, present and sell work and ideas, and collaborate with all necessary stakeholders
  • Accountability to budget, timelines and all deliverables
