Location

This is a hybrid role, which we’ve termed Work from Near (WFN). This model requires the ability to work on-site in a hybrid capacity (Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays) in one of our offices: Charlottesville, VA (HQ), Durham, NC, Columbus, OH or Boston, MA.

The Opportunity

As a Director, Delivery Lead 1, you will partner with engineering, design, strategy, and growth marketing directors to lead multidisciplinary project teams. Together, you'll establish and grow partnerships with clients to deliver world-class products that bridge marketing strategy with cutting-edge technology.

Responsibilities 

  • Lead design and technical projects that integrate marketing strategy with technology, including enterprise web and e-commerce solutions, marketing automation systems, Customer Data Platforms (CDPs), and other related technologies.
  • Utilize your client services experience to facilitate decisions on scope, design, architecture, and process, ensuring alignment with overall business and marketing objectives.
  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product management, marketing partners, and C-level executives, to drive project success.
  • Develop and articulate comprehensive project plans and goals, ensuring alignment across teams and driving seamless implementation.
  • Manage client accounts, including budget, project scope, and relationships, fostering long-term partnerships.
  • Encourage sustainable workflow practices while maintaining focus on key client objectives and project deliverables.
  • Adapt to dynamic project scenarios and environments, leveraging appropriate project management frameworks (Agile, Scrum, Kanban, etc.).
  • Conduct regular client visits, up to 20% of the time, particularly during high-impact project milestones to ensure alignment and address any emerging issues.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in the software development industry, with a focus on project/program leadership roles (e.g., Project Manager, Product Manager, Product Owner, Team Lead, or Scrum Master).
  • Proven experience leading large-scale digital projects from discovery through UX design, implementation, and deployment.
  • Strong knowledge of UX/UI principles, web development processes, and digital marketing technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage strategy and software projects with complex scopes and multiple executive stakeholders.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with effective communication across diverse roles and technical backgrounds.
  • Experience leading projects in various delivery environments, including waterfall, Agile, or hybrid structures.
  • Skilled in facilitating working sessions with client stakeholders and internal teams, driving collaboration and innovation.
  • Ability to simplify complex ideas and manage ambiguity for teams and clients.
  • Proven track record as a mentor and leader, fostering an inclusive environment for idea sharing and team growth.

Bonus Points

  • Professional experience as a Project or Product Manager and Scrum Master at a major technology consultancy or agency.
  • Experience with enterprise content management system implementations, such as Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), Drupal, and Sitecore.
  • Experience with marketing automation and customer engagement platforms, including Adobe Journey Optimizer, Adobe Campaign, Marketo, Braze, and Salesforce Marketing Cloud.
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing principles, strategies, and tactics, including A/B testing, personalization, SEO, analytics, and email marketing.
  • Experience managing distributed project teams and remote work environments.
  • Involvement in account planning and growth activities, contributing to business development and client relationship expansion.
  • Managed projects for executive-level client partners, including Fortune 500 clients, delivering impactful business results.
  • Relevant certifications: CSM, CSPO, PMP, SAFe Agilist (SA), SAFe Program Consultant (SPC), etc.
