Location

Our Chief Data & AI Officer will lead a team that is distributed across North America, LatAm, and the worldwide. Because of this distributed model, this role will be based in one of our offices in the US (Charlottesville, VA, Durham, NC, Columbus, OH, or Boston, MA),

OR in our São Paulo, Brazil office.

Our office culture is designed to foster in-person innovation, collaboration, and connection with team members local and visiting from other global offices. This role may have up to 25% domestic and international travel per month. In-person and on-camera virtual interaction with clients and team members in business and social settings is required. 

The Opportunity

This business unit specializes in data-driven solutions and strategic AI implementation. We help our clients unlock the full potential of their data and transform their business through innovative, AI-powered strategies.

Our Chief Data & AI Officer will lead our data engineering, data science, and emerging generative AI capabilities. In this role, you will be responsible for driving the growth, profitability, and success of our data and AI consulting practice. You will provide strategic guidance, lead cross-functional teams, and deliver outstanding client value across both LatAm and North American markets. The Chief Data & AI Officer will have P&L responsibility and will play a critical role in shaping our company's overall vision, strategy, and growth.

Responsibilities

Strategy and Leadership:

  • Collaborate with the executive leadership team to define the company's Data & AI vision, strategy, and goals
  • Drive growth by identifying emerging trends, market opportunities, and industry best practices
  • Lead the planning, development, and execution of the Data & AI strategic roadmap

P&L Responsibility:

  • Assume overall accountability for the financial performance of the Data & AI consulting practice
  • Partner with Practice Leaders and Business Development to continue to grow managed accounts 
  • In partnership with Business Development, develop and implement effective revenue generation strategies to meet or exceed annual revenue targets
  • Monitor financial performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions as necessary

Team Leadership and Management:

  • Build and lead high-performing teams, including Data Engineers, Data Scientists, AI Strategists and AI Engineers
  • Foster a culture of excellence, innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning within the Data & AI teams globally and more broadly through the Practice Advisor team
  • Champion professional growth and development initiatives to enhance team capabilities and expertise

Client Engagement and Delivery:

  • Partner with clients to identify their business challenges and design tailored Data & AI solutions
  • Oversee the delivery of high-quality data-driven insights, models, and strategic recommendations
  • Provide thought leadership and build trusted advisor relationships with key client stakeholders

Competencies

Experience:

  • 10+ years of relevant leadership and team management experience within a top-tier management consultancy (Partner-level) or global and publicly traded enterprise (VP, SVP, or C-level) with a focus on AI, Data Engineering, Data Science, or Related Fields
  • Leads line of business for mid-size to large consultancy (ie: Office, industry, etc.)
  • Leadership experience in technology consulting, project management, and executive partnerships
  • Clear and tested experience in leading cross-functional teams and managing P&L responsibilities

Industry Knowledge:

  • In-depth knowledge of Data Engineering, Data Science, and AI technologies and tools
  • Familiarity with emerging trends, best practices, and advancements in Data & AI applications
  • Track record of being a dynamic decision-maker and having adaptiveness in a quickly changing environment
  • Deep knowledge of customer experience strategies and digital transformation

Leadership Competencies:

  • Exceptional leadership and people management skills, inspiring and motivating cross-functional teams
  • Excellent strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with strong business acumen
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with clients and key stakeholders

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex ideas effectively to C-level and Executive audiences
  • Strong collaborator with the ability to work seamlessly across diverse teams and cultures
  • Proficiency in English is required; additional fluency in Spanish or Portuguese is a plus
