GENERAL ROLE DESCRIPTION 

Wild Alaskan Company is seeking a dynamic and experienced Manager of Innovation and Merchandising to join our team. This role's key focus is on what we sell and how we sell it. They will be responsible for developing and executing integrated innovation and merchandising strategies that optimize Wild Alaskan Company’s product assortment, support customer satisfaction, and drive business growth. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in e-commerce, with a particular focus on the food industry.

RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Develop and implement cohesive strategies that guide future product innovation and optimize merchandising to enhance the member shopping experience and sales performance.
  • Analyze market trends, member preferences, competitor activities, and product analytics to identify opportunities for new product offerings and improvements to the existing assortment.
  • Manage the product assortment through the lens of “the role of each SKU” to ensure each product serves a business goal, such as driving customer retention, reaching a new audience, or improving gross margins.
  • Engage with members to understand their needs, preferences, and feedback, translating these insights into actionable plans.
  • Work closely with the Finance and Marketing teams to develop pricing strategies that ensure competitiveness while maintaining healthy margins.
  • Partner with the Product Development and Brand teams on front-end innovation and concepting.
  • Collaborate with the Brand, Creative, and Product Development teams to optimize product listings, ensuring compelling and accurate product positioning to effectively support the strategy behind each SKU.
  • Work with the Supply Chain, Marketing, and Data teams to forecast demand and manage supply levels effectively.
  • Collaborate with the Digital Product and Engineering teams to unlock capabilities that support an improved digital shopping experience.
  • Utilize data analytics to monitor performance metrics and make data-driven decisions to improve product positioning, product assortment, and sales.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 5+ years of experience in merchandising, innovation, or a related role in ecommerce, with a strong emphasis on the food industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Marketing, or a related field or equivalent work experience. 
  • A strong finance and/or analytics background is preferred.
  • Proven track record of launching successful new product and merchandising initiatives.
  • Experience managing product pricing strategies and driving both sales and gross margin incrementality. 
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
  • Excellent project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate team members.
  • Passion for sustainability and commitment to Wild Alaskan Company's mission.

The starting salary range for this position is $90,000 - $120,000 commensurate with skills and experience. Wild Alaskan’s benefits package includes health, vision, and dental insurance, 401k, PTO, safe/sick time, vacation, parental leave, and more, as well as a delicious box of free fish every month.
