Hi, we’re Who Gives A Crap! We make eco-friendly toilet paper (as well as tissues and paper towels) and donate 50% of our profits to help build toilets for the 2 billion people in need. We love doing good, and we happen to be exceptionally good at it too! To date, we’ve donated over AUD$8.3 million (roughly USD$5.9 million) to fund sanitation projects around the globe. 

Our team is made up of over 120 amazing humans in Australia, the Philippines, China, the US and Europe and we’re working hard to reach our ambitious goals to create the greatest impact possible – for people and the planet. How ambitious you ask? Well, it involves increasing our annual donation 10-fold in the next couple of years to get closer to our mission – toilets and clean water for all!

A bit about the role

As a new roll (pun intended) to our Innovation team, this New Product Development Project Manager will support the development of our product pipeline by streamlining communication and decisions across different functions and implementing processes and tools to coordinate more effectively.  You’ll report directly to our Head of Innovation, work elbow-to-elbow with our Product Development Leads across new products and categories, and support projects that impact the NPD team from SOP through to production and launch. From managing the project workflow, leading the internal communications across teams, designing the Gantt charts of our dreams outlining schedules and timelines, effectively communicating roadblocks and updates, and continuously keeping your pulse on ways to improve how we operate as a team, you’ll make sure everything is running like clockwork and the NPD team is kicking bum! 

You’ll also support our vendor network, always keeping a pulse on our product roadmap, keeping communication flowing across Growth Marketing, Insights, Customer Experience, Supply Chain, Production, and you’ll be a part of our consultant partner onboarding and ramp up. And because setting a scalable foundation for continuous improvement is your secret sauce to success, you’ll be auditing our process to make way for future improvements and always be on the lookout for tools and methods to streamline our workflow and keep the product development ship sailing smoothly.

If you worked here this past month here are some things you might have been involved in:

  • Championed our project management tool (Monday.com) by plugging in project timelines and made sure everything is up-to-date with the latest information, status reports and links
  • Started experimenting with a new way of using our project management tools to increase cross-functional visibility into our NPD team projects
  • Nudged along the NPD Team with proactively upbeat reminders regarding key project deadlines
  • Built out development timelines and parallel paths to mitigate launch risk with different suppliers
  • Explored the development framework for ops and logistics implications of different upcoming product configurations.
  • Represented the NPD team in a cross-functional project status meeting 
  • Dug deep into a SOP and cleared up any uncertainties before it was kicked off with  handed over to Production, Supply Chain, and external vendors
  • Participated enthusiastically in an all-hands, winner-takes-all virtual roshambo contest
  • Partnered with our People & Culture team to onboard and offboard our Freelance Friends network aligned with our NPD roadmap and resourcing
  • Scheduled and supported brainstorms, stand ups, sprints, retrospectives and other ceremonies to keep the team aligned and focused
  • Wore a unicorn mask and dancing through the frame of our latest Facebook ad, shaking rolls of toilet paper on the way through. Oh, did we mention the confetti?

There’s nothing you GANTT do

You are the Marie Kondo of project management and are continually looking for ways to streamline, organize and optimize our projects. You’re such a pro at Gantt charts Excel and other software tools use your past projects as inspirational templates. 

You deeply understand the CPG space and know what it takes to deliver greatness

You have a detailed understanding of the CPG manufacturing environment, and have a healthy pulse on what risks and milestones are important to keep track of a dozen steps ahead. Whether it’s supporting your internal NPD teammates and cross-functional collaborators or managing contract manufacturers near and far, you get the creative and production process and can speak Product Developer just as easily as Sourcing & Manufacturing. You realistically know what it takes to get a project completed, and use that magic to keep us all on track. 

Your keep all lines of communication flowing 

You know how important it is to keep everyone in the know and lean on your expert communication skills to herd the cats. Whether it’s drafting up notes for a SOP nudging a colleague on a timeline or deliverable, sharing updates on Slack, MIro, or Monday.com, leading a weekly project check-in or sharing status reports to stakeholders on progress,  you clearly and effectively share what’s happening to keep everyone in the loop and on the same page. 

You are an expert collaborator

You’re able to clearly define a SOP and build out the execution across the NPD team and our partners, generating support and buy-in from both key stakeholders team members by keeping the communication flowing across stakeholders and teams, and ultimately hitting the deadlines and delivering the projects you scooped. People trust you and you’re able to build a reputation as an expert as well as an accountable, transparent, and trustworthy teammate. 

You are graceful under pressure

You know how to juggle multiple tasks at a time with ease and don’t sweat things when it’s crunch time or projects turn on a dime. You also inspire the same energy with your teammates and are able to help ease bandwidth and bottlenecks by looping in solutions such as Freelance Friends.

You give a crap
