Hi, we’re Who Gives A Crap! We make eco-friendly toilet paper (as well as tissues and paper towels) and donate 50% of our profits to help build toilets for the 2 billion people in need.

We love doing good, and we happen to be exceptionally good at it too! To date, we’ve donated over AUD$8.3 million (roughly USD$5.9 million) to fund sanitation projects around the globe. We’ve grown quickly – selling directly to customers across three continents and have established a strong B2B business in Australia that’s expanding to the UK and US. 

Our team is made up of over 100 amazing humans working out of Melbourne, Los Angeles, China, and Manila. We’re working hard to reach our ambitious goals and diversify our product range to ensure we can have the greatest impact possible – both for the planet and its people. With your help, we’re hoping to increase our annual donation 10-fold in the next couple of years and continue to make the most beautiful, eco-friendly goods around.

A bit about the role:


Whether it’s a suggested post from our social account, a blog article shared, or a mention about our product in a podcast you recently listened to, our digital content is often the first point of brand contact for current and new customers (played by you, in this scenario!). 

That’s a big deal(!), and means that the quality of our designed content needs to be delightful, consistent, and in tip-top-shape. We’re looking for a creative to lead the ideation and design of our digital content assets, primarily across organic social and our blog. You’ll push us to always ensure the look and feel of our brand is united, recognizable and engaging across our digital channels, and help us identify new ways to increase the engagement and conversation with our audience. 

Reporting to our Growth and Brand Design Lead, as our Digital Content Designer you’ll work along-side a kick-butt Creative Team who aren’t afraid to put a fart button on an email. You’ll not only be the expert that knows our brand inside and out, but also the expert on what makes our social audience “tick.” You’ll collaborate closely with our Social Media Manager, Video Content Creators, and Growth Marketing team in the ideation stages of new content, ensuring that our customer sentiments are accounted for, we’re stretching our ideas BIG, and performance is still at the heart of everything we do. 

If you worked here this past month here are some things you might have been involved in:

  • Joined a cross-functional brainstorm for all things content where you ideated and shared inspiration for the blog and beyond 
  • Help optimize our blog experience to increase engagement, traffic and returning readers 
  • "Zhuzhed*" up an existing piece of video content with new typography and graphics
  • Met with the Social Media Manager and CX Community Lead to sync on customer engagement insights and social trends in our audience to inform the content ideation for an upcoming campaign (*we still don’t yet know how that sound is actually spelt)
  • Designed a content piece for social that went so viral it turned into a meme
  • Worked with the other content specialists on our Creative team to create visuals for our monthly organic social & blog calendar
  • Uploaded a bunch of stuff that inspires you on our Slack #inspiration channel
  • Joined a monthly metrics meeting with Creative and Growth to review performance of content across social, blog, and other digital brand touchpoints and offered ideas for how to surpass target engagement goals in the upcoming month

Let’s talk about you

You’re an experienced Digital Designer who strives for far more than just making things look good. You want your design to work hard - not only for our Growth Marketing and Brand metrics, but also for the world. You’ve got lots of loves, but a sweet spot for typography, GIF’s and all of the usual social media formats. 

You are an ideas machine! 
You’re naturally brimming with our-of-the-box content ideas, and you know you’re in your element when you get the chance to translate abstract ideas into visuals that engage and delight the audience. No idea goes too far or too big in your book, and you’re just as eager to throw ideas out on the table as you are keen to take on feedback for your ideas in order to create the most high-performing content possible. 

You’re tuned into social trends 
Oh and probably even a few steps ahead of the rest of us when it comes to knowing what’s current, what’s cool, what’s working out in the design world. You’re all over the latest trends and social media news, and are constantly thinking about how you can iterate your own designs to capitalize on these trends in new and exciting ways. 

You see the forest, and the trees
Rather than just thinking through the individual element you’re designing, you think about the entire experience it fits into. We go at a fast pace, so while we want to be proud of the work that goes out, it might not always be perfect. We prefer to get as many of our ideas into the world as possible, rather than perfecting a single idea.

You look good in (lots of) hats
Berets, caps, helmets - you look good in all of them. We’re a small team and we all get our hands dirty. You’ve got a design eye across typography & graphic design, simple animations (GIFs) & social media formats & trends, so you’re just as enthusiastic about designing a scrappy story for Instagram utilizing UGC as you are the assets for a well polished, heavy-hitter campaign. Ideally, you even have / have had your own side projects because you’re that kinda creative person. 

You’ve got laser focus!
You’re highly organised and detail orientated - even in a fast-paced and largely remote environment - and are deeply self-driven. You’re super comfy working autonomously, yet also always ready to jump into brainstorms with your team and work cross functionally as needed to inform your work. 

You give a crap

While the Melbourne team spends a few days of the week together in our coworking space in Cremorne, you can also mix it up and work in your PJs from home or set up office at the beach but, up to you! And while we don’t have a Friday drinks cart (yet), you will get free toilet paper. A lot of it. And nothing beats that.

Lastly, you get to say the word ‘crap’ more than in any other job. Guaranteed.



This depends on your experience but just because we’re a social enterprise doesn’t mean you’ll get paid peanuts. Think chocolate covered macadamia nuts with some extra perks thrown in. In other words, we pay competitively and are determined to make this the best job you'll ever have – you won’t ever want to leave!
