Team Whistle is looking for a junior programmer “+” to support our WhistleTV team, which leads our syndication and OTT efforts. We are looking for someone who is extremely organized, a team player, and willing to learn in a fast-paced TV environment. This person also loves data and utilizing it to make better programming decisions. This position reports to the Director of Content Syndication Operations & Partner Management. 

You will be responsible for three key strategic growth areas of Whistle: 

  1. OTT Programming Grids and EPG Delivery via Amagi, Wurl, & Zype~ 45%
  2. Operation Planning and Platform Programming Communications ~ 20%
  3. Research, Content Review, and Analytics in Partnership with Sales, Ad Ops & Content to Make Informed Programming Decisions ~ 35% 

Primary Job Responsibilities: 

  • Assist in developing overall content and programming strategy for WhistleTV
  • Serve as liaison to ad operations and sales to team to develop cohesive programming and monetization strategy and optimization 
  • Create and maintain monthly programming grid for linear and VOD channel; including but not limited to identifying tentpoles, highlights and hour by hour schedule
  • Delivery and implementation of monthly programming via platforms including: Wurl, Amagi, and Zype 
  • Implementing ancillary channel assets such as interstitials, adbreaks, and lower thirds within monthly programming 
  • Manage editorial and programming communications to both internal and external key stakeholders
  • Review content acquisition screeners to determine programming strategy fit
  • Produce high quality and accurate electronic programming guide (EPG) listings on a monthly basis 
  • Create new programming initiatives (stunts, theme nights, special events)
  • Evaluate online content with an eye towards maximizing customer experience, brand conformity, and overall quality 
  • Ability to communicate with external third parties and clients 
  • Basic understanding of of content analytics & viewership metrics (streams, hours of viewership, unique visitors etc) with experience working in Google Analytics and Adobe Analytics, Tableau 
  • Perform research and competitive analysis to inform and present programming strategy

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in MS Office, Adobe Premiere and Photoshop. 
  • A desire to work in OTT/Streaming 
  • Strong organizational skills with a keen eye for detail 
  • Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines and quick turnaround
  • Ability to be a self-starter and take initiative 
  • Open-minded attitude with a desire to learn 
  • 4 to 6 yrs of work experience in content programming and content analysis at major media / broadcast /cable / digital companies 
  • Prior team management experience 
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills 
  • Expert knowledge of Excel, Powerpoint and Google Docs 
  • A cross functional leader and a self-starter who is a great communicator
  • Firm understanding of digital video marketplace, OTT programmatic landscape, ad-tech and third-party technologies for retail distribution
