Job Title: Contract Specialist/Coordinator, Business Affairs

Work Location: London (Hybrid) with attendance in the office up to 2-3 days per week

Start Date: ASAP

Recently named one of WorkLife’s 50 Best Places to Work and one of Fast Company's Most Innovative Companies, Whalar is a leading global Creator Company.

Whalar empowers creators, brands, and platforms to tap new areas of innovation and drive business growth together. We do this through our six divisions: brand partnerships, talent management, proprietary technology, a creator-centric venture studio, a gaming studio, and a physical campus for creators. As a result, we have the best understanding, the most access, and the earned trust of creators. We're a curious, diverse team of 300 individuals united by one belief: Everything Is Better With Creators.

We Liberate the Creative Voice. We are Whalar.

About the role:

So what does a Contract Specialist do? In short, you will support our Brand Partnerships teams based in London and Berlin on contracting creators for our brand partnerships campaigns. No two days are the same here, you will be reviewing contracts one day for a campaign with a global fashion brand and advising on ASA regulations to make sure the creative content is low risk and can be utilised by our clients without fear of takedowns. A passion for social media and talent is a must!

Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day:

  • Provide daily BA oversight on European creator agreements, releases, and amendments.
  • Review, draft, and negotiate creator agreements with creators, agents, creator’s counsel and managers on behalf of Whalar global Brand Partnership teams
  • Provide training on how to execute campaigns and agreements the right way.
  • Be the go-to partner for our internal teams during pre and post-execution of campaigns.
  • Stay on top of any required production paperwork for campaigns as needed (insurance, releases, waivers etc)
  • Stepping in to support our Brand Partnerships team with tricky negotiations.
  • Stay current with changes in advertising regulations.
  • Take charge of setting up our contract automation from templates to ensure our Brand Partnerships are able to contract creators and troubleshoot any issues in real time.
  • Work flexible hours to support our Global BA team when needed.
  • Supporting our Senior Manager, Business Affairs with admin, contract execution and ad-hoc requests.
  • Collaborating with our Contract Manager, Business Affairs based in New York during busy periods.

Here’s what we’re looking for:

  • In the ballpark of 2-4 years experience in social media marketing, marketing, entertainment, or Creator landscape.
  • Passion for business affairs and social media.
  • Innovative thinkers, we are constantly looking for how we can do things better and making changes where necessary and contributing to this is a part of everyday life at Whalar.
  • A self-starter who is able to work independently following training.
  • Having your ducks in a row, we move quickly here and ensuring you stay on top of daily requests is a must.
  • Going the extra mile, for certain campaigns a 9-5 doesn’t quite cut it, we’re looking for someone who can flex their hours when needed to get the job done.
  • A basic understanding of contracts is highly desired.
  • Being the main character when presenting to the internal teams and having the confidence to do so with support from the wider BA team.
  • Keeping the plates spinning, we have a lot going on at any one time and ensuring requests are effectively prioritised is key.
  • Details matter. In contracts, a misplaced comma can have a huge impact, and attention to detail is important.
  • Bringing the vibes, we work in a creative industry, a positive mindset and a   can-do attitude will go a long way.
