Weiss Asset Management (WAM) is seeking research analysts to focus on investment opportunities in Japan. No prior finance experience is required: this is an opportunity for curious and driven researchers to rotate across investment strategies and to get real-time feedback on ideas in a collaborative and intellectually challenging environment. Research Analysts will perform in-depth research on companies, industries, and macro events to help us better screen for new investment opportunities and to better understand risks and returns on existing strategies.
We are especially interested in candidates who have completed or are currently enrolled in a PhD program in the humanities or social sciences. However, we will consider all candidates with substantial prior research experience. Previous research analysts have included PhD candidates in economics, linguistics, philosophy, and sociology. Written and verbal fluency in English and Japanese is required.
Over time, successful research analysts will gain investment insights across a wide variety of fundamental and discretionary investment strategies and will develop the ability to generate investment ideas as part of a world-class investment team.
