Weiss Asset Management (WAM), a Boston-based investment firm, is seeking an Operations Analyst to join our Asia Desk. The desk is located in Boston but works overnight and pursues investment opportunities across asset classes in a range of Asian markets. A successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment, will enjoy taking ownership of a range of operational responsibilities, and will seek to document and improve existing processes at every opportunity. The Analyst can expect to gain exposure to multiple markets and asset classes, develop technical skills, and take ownership of many operational processes. 2022 graduates and those without previous finance experience are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities:
Manage trade booking and settlement processes across markets and asset classes
Cash and position reconciliation including identification and resolution of root issues
Daily collaboration with external counterparties, including prime and executing brokers, along with multiple teams across the firm regarding trade confirmation, reconciliation, and settlement
Adding efficiency and reducing operational risk through process improvements and ad-hoc projects
Ensuring correct processing of corporate actions in Asian and European markets
Facilitating and collecting data on equity capital markets transactions, on a daily basis
