Hudson River Trading is hiring a Python Developer for our Compliance team. This position offers a unique opportunity for exposure to the inner workings of a highly successful automated trading firm. 

As a Python Developer, you'll be responsible for writing and testing scalable code and developing processes to monitor firm-wide trading based on regulatory and/or compliance requirements. 

We are looking for a developer who loves coding, enjoys taking on challenging problems, and wants to make an immediate and tangible impact. The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic learner with an interest in compliance, technology, and automated trading alongside excellent design, debugging, and problem solving skills. Additionally, you’ll have excellent project management skills with a desire to see complex projects through from concept to completion.

Responsibilities

  • Harness proprietary data using internal APIs and interfaces to create compliance and analytical reports
  • Maintain and improve the Compliance Development team’s report framework to be more efficient and robust
  • Write ETL pipelines pertaining to regulatory or compliance-related data
  • Develop new features and support the web-based compliance surveillance application
  • Coordinate with other departments on technical projects
  • Work on complex tasks with variable scope, from quick fixes for existing processes to long-term direction setting

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline 
  • 1- 4 years of relevant experience in Python or compliance 
  • Intermediate to advanced Python skills
  • Experience working in UNIX systems
  • Familiarity with Python web frameworks (such as Flask, Django, and FastAPI) is a plus
  • Understanding of SQL and relational databases is a plus
  • C++, Javascript and React experience is a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Excellent attention to detail with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic understanding of trading is a plus, but not required
