The Meat Category Manager is responsible for developing and executing strategic plans to
optimize the meat category's performance, enhance profitability, and ensure customer
satisfaction. This role involves market analysis, supplier negotiations, inventory management,
and collaboration with various departments to drive sales and achieve business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Category Strategy Development:
o Develop and implement comprehensive category strategies to maximize sales,
market share, and profitability.
o Analyze market trends, consumer preferences, and competitor activities to
identify opportunities for growth.
o Set pricing strategies, promotional plans, and product assortment to meet
customer needs and company goals.

Supplier Management:
o Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors.
o Negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions to secure the best prices and quality for
products.
o Ensure a consistent supply of products and manage any supply chain issues that
may arise.
Inventory Management:
o Monitor inventory levels to ensure optimal stock levels, minimize waste, and
avoid stockouts.
o Collaborate with the supply chain and logistics teams to manage lead times and
order quantities.
o Implement inventory control measures and systems to track product movement.
Sales and Performance Analysis:
o Track and analyze sales performance, margins, and other key metrics.
o Generate regular reports on category performance and present insights and
recommendations to senior management.
o Use data analytics to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
Promotions and Marketing:
o Plan and execute promotional activities, including in-store promotions,
advertising campaigns, and special events.
o Work with the marketing team to develop compelling marketing materials and
campaigns.
o Assess the effectiveness of promotional activities and adjust strategies as needed.
Customer Experience:
o Ensure that the product range meets customer needs and preferences.
o Address customer feedback and complaints promptly and effectively.
o Conduct regular storefront visits to assess product presentation and gather
customer insights.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:
o Work closely with procurement, marketing, Supply Chain, and ethnicity teams to
ensure alignment and effective execution of category plans.
o Participate in cross-functional projects and initiatives to drive overall business
performance.

Qualifications
 Education and Experience:
o Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Supply Chain
Management, or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus.
o Minimum of 5 years of experience in category management, preferably in the
meat or fresh food industry.
Skills and Competencies:
o Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills.
o Excellent negotiation and relationship management skills.
o Proficiency in inventory management and data analysis tools.
o Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively across all levels of
the organization.
o Knowledge of meat products, market trends, and consumer behavior.
Personal Attributes:
o Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
o Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
o Proactive and results-driven with a focus on continuous improvement.

Working Conditions
 This position may require occasional travel to supplier locations, industry conferences,
and store visits.
 Must be able to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends, to meet
business needs.

Compensation Range

  • The US base salary range for this full-time position is $105,000-125,000
  • This role may be eligible to discretionary bonus, incentives and benefits 
  • Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location
