While most of our engineering teams are organized by features—or vertical slices—of our applications, the InSys team oversees many shared services used throughout all Weave applications. Authentication, user-management, and audit logging to name a few. They provide compliant solutions for common problems that reduce complexity without compromising security.

Your primary responsibility will be to design, automate, and make continual improvements to Weave’s infrastructure. You’ll also be responsible for the day to day monitoring, administration and operations necessary to run Weave’s infrastructure in a cloud environment at scale.

Coding software automation, Kubernetes, infrastructure as code, and working with managed cloud services is where most of our time will be spent. Experience automating, monitoring, and administration of environments running in managed public services is key.  What you'll do as a DevOps Engineer at Weave: 

What You Will Own

  • Automate away as much of the day to day work as possible
  • Design and implement highly available and scalable systems
  • Ensure smooth day to day operations of Weave’s infrastructure
  • Build and evolve tools and standards for automation, scaling, monitoring, and alerting
  • Collaborate with product teams to resolve production issues, improve monitoring and leverage cloud services
  • Participate in weekly on-call rotation

What You Will Need to Accomplish the Job 

  • Experience with at least one cloud platform (GCP is a plus)
  • Solid understanding of containerization technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker
  • Experience with automation tools such as Puppet, Salt, Ansible, Terraform
  • Experience writing automation using Go, Python, etc.
  • Experience designing highly available and scalable systems
  • Understanding of monitoring at scale

What Will Make Us Love You

  • Managing infrastructure and applications using GitOps and ArgoCD
  • Building and maintaining Kubernetes operators
  • Deploying and maintaining a service mesh
  • Maintaining and scaling Prometheus
  • Experienced using GCP services such as IAM, Networking components, GKE and Google Cloud Storage
