Who we are

Established in 2017, Wayve is a leader in autonomous vehicle technology, driven by breakthroughs in Embodied AI. Our intelligent, mapless, and hardware-agnostic technologies empower vehicles to navigate complex environments effortlessly.

Supported by prominent investors, Wayve is advancing the transition from assisted to fully automated driving, making transportation safer, more efficient, and universally accessible. Join our world-class, multinational team of engineers and researchers as we push the boundaries of frontier AI and autonomous driving, creating impactful technologies and products on a global scale

Where you will have an impact

  • Short-term:
    • Product Definition: Define the host HW & SW platform for our AI driving model. Ensure that product level compute requirements, sensing req’s, SW interfaces, and vehicle platform compatibilities are specific and prioritised effectively.
    • Middleware strategy: inform our strategy wrt compatibility with existing platforms like Apex.ai, DriveOS, …
    • Compute performance and KPIs: Set compute/model optimization priorities and define top level KPI targets
    • Calibration and integration workflows: Design calibration workflows that specify the division of responsibilities between our team and OEMs. Develop a clear strategy for pre-production calibration and define processes for ongoing calibration post-production
    • Data Filtering: Scope and set requirements for a data filtering solution that allows dynamic rules for logging data around specific events (e.g., harsh braking, scene composition,...) for both OEM product and Wayve internal fleet platform. This involves defining the workflow, complexity, and features of both onboard and offboard components to ensure that the right data is captured for model improvement and incident response. Ensure alignment with existing OEM systems for this (extend, replace, dev only, …), bearing in mind compute/ECU and EDR compliance considerations.
    • Collaboration: Liaise with engineering and data teams to ensure good integration and collaboration across AI/on-board software/robotics/data.
  • Long-term:
    • Expand Platform Capabilities: Drive the scope of supported compute and vehicle platforms. Optimize the model/platform interfaces to function seamlessly on a diverse range of vehicle and compute platforms, across multiple OEMs.
    • HMI and UX Integration: Develop HMI and UX concepts that complement and integrate with OEM concepts, ensuring a user-friendly and intuitive interaction with our AI driving systems.
    • Streamlining Vehicle Commissioning: Think holistically about the vehicle and ODD commissioning process to minimize customer/user configuration
    • Event Data Recording: Take ownership of Event Data Recording requirements to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and industry best practices, while also maximizing the utility of collected data for product development and building customer trust.

Challenges you will own

  • Define Vehicle/Compute Platform and Data interfaces: Articulate precise requirements for AI model integration with vehicle systems and interfaces.
  • Data Filtering Proposition: Define the product proposition for triggered data collection across on-board and off board for both OEM product and Wayve internal fleet platform. Align with engineering/embedded constraints & existing OEM infrastructure.
  • Drive partnership and/or compatibility strategy wrt existing on-board software stacks
  • Calibration Workflows: Map out calibration roles and processes for both pre- and post-production stages.
  • Optimize Compute Platform Use: Select and prioritize suitable compute platforms for AI model compatibility.
  • Set Embodiment KPIs: Set top level KPI targets to monitor platform and data function performance.
  • Align HMI and UX designs with OEM partnerships and user needs.
  • Streamline Vehicle Commissioning: Simplify commissioning to ensure quick, efficient vehicle setup.
  • Manage Event Data Recording: Oversee regulatory compliance and standards for data recording.
  • Enhance Team Collaboration: Promote synergy between on board software, data, and robotics teams.

What we offer you

  • The chance to be part of a truly mission driven organisation and an opportunity to shape the future of autonomous driving.  Unlike our competitors, Wayve is still relatively small and nimble, giving you the chance to make a huge impact
  • Competitive compensation and benefits
  • A dynamic and fast-paced work environment in which you will grow every day - learning on the job, from the brightest minds in our space, and with support for more formal learning opportunities too
  • A culture that is ego-free, respectful and welcoming (of you and your dog) - we even eat lunch together every day
  • Benefits such as an onsite chef, workplace nursery scheme, private health insurance, cycle scheme, therapy, yoga, two onsite bars, large social budgets
  • This is a full-time role based in our office in London. At Wayve we want the best of all worlds so we operate a hybrid working policy that combines time together in our offices and workshops to fuel innovation, culture, relationships and learning, and time spent working from home.  We also operate core working hours so you can be where you need to be for family and loved ones too.  Teams determine the routines that work best for them.

At Wayve we're committed to creating a diverse, fair and respectful culture that is inclusive of everyone based on their unique skills and perspectives, and regardless of gender, gender identity, gender expression, race, sexual orientation, physical or mental disability, ethnicity, age or religious belief
