Senior Manager - Asia Logistics, Strategy and Growth

We are seeking an entrepreneurial leader to drive Strategy and Growth for Asia Logistics. The role is located in the Boston office. This leader will define the strategy for “virtual” vertical integration into Asia source of supply; develop country specific logistic footprint for cross-vendor Asia consolidation opportunity beginning with China and Vietnam; run deep analytics into our product mix to identify suppliers and products suitable for Asia Consolidation; build vision for technology roadmap needed to excel in the integrated supply chain between Asia and rest of the world; identify and drive growth opportunities to expand Asia Logistics volume by 10x-15x in the next 12 months

The right candidate will bring a true business building mindset focused on outcomes and impact for Wayfair. This includes end-to-end ownership: strategy, solution and roadmap design, value capture mindset, and value measurement. 

The ideal candidate will have experience working in a top tier consulting firm. Direct experience working in the supply chain space ideally for transportation and logistics companies is a big plus.

 

Requirements:

  • Proven track record of taking ownership and driving results
  • Experience in developing growth and operating model strategy
  • Hypothesis driven with strong analytical and communication skills
  • Very comfortable with implementing advanced analytics and machine learning tools
  • Consulting experience from McKinsey, Bain or BCG
  • Extremely collaborative and effective in a cross-functional environment; most cross functional teams will be in Boston. Will have to show persuasion and drive to engage stakeholders
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment and can adapt to change quickly
  • Self-driven leader focused on building a personal brand in logistics, e-commerce, supply chain space
  • Strong project management skills with ability to get things done
  • Ability to manage through ambiguity, stress, adversity and conflict to establish focus and deliver against business goals
  • Manage multiple moving initiatives - ability to prioritize when to go deep vs broad
  • International experience working in Asia is a plus (China, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Malaysia)

 

Responsibilities:

  • Drive blueprint for Asia network – identify next phase of sites to be launched in Asia – location, number of sites, type of sites, technology needs, partnership strategy
  • Create and drive strategy for growth and expansion opportunities within Asia Logistics.
  • Identify additional opportunities within Asia Logistics to help Wayfair maintain rapid growth, while optimizing for cost and speed
  • Demonstrate end to end ownership of high priority strategic initiatives: identify and size opportunity, prioritize, collaborate with cross-functional teams including direct discussions with VPs and Senior Directors, create implementation plans and launch pilots
  • Refine 1 year, 3 year and 5 year roadmap for Asia Logistics
  • Perform deep analytics to identify new and validate existing value proposition for suppliers and consumers
  • Collaborate early with product and engineering teams to drive technology roadmap
  • Stay up-to-date with market and relevant geopolitical changes; proactively track and share competitive intelligence insights
  • Work with Business Development team to drive high priority initiatives
  • Occasional visits to Boston office and other trade shows for direct interactions with customers

 

Profiles that may be especially well-suited for this role:

  • Innovative strategy and growth leader with flair for supply chain / logistics
  • Direct experience leading strategy function in 3PL, Freight Forwarding, Warehousing, Logistics, or Supply Chain industry
  • Experience developing global logistics/supply chain strategy
  • Advanced analytics and modeling design leaders
  • 5-7 years of experience from a Top 3 consulting firm
  • Experience leading team of strategists and analysts
