To support that, we are looking to hire a talented Senior Manager- Facilities Engineering for our European Warehouse team. The Senior Manager- Facilities Engineer will be a key member of the Wayfair Industrial Engineering team. The role will serve as the leader of the Facilities Engineering team(s) in various Distribution sites in Europe. You will work on the implementation of our new e-commerce warehouses and contribute to the further European expansion.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Lead and set up Wayfair’s facility team in EU spanning approximately 2M sq. ft of warehouse space
  • Provide end-to-end leadership on setting up new facilities from ground up (lead construction meetings, coordinating with the builders, their contractors etc.)
  • Coordinate with warehousing operations to understand the operational requirements, and ensure warehouse build is in accordance to the requirements
  • Support the development of RFP’s as needed, perform ROI Analysis and Procurement for various supply chain solutions including hardware, software, & supporting technology.
  • Provide engineering support for process development and improvement initiatives to reinforce the goal of Operational Excellence.
  • Create and enforce compliance audits to ensure regulatory requirements are being met.
  • Space planning and layout design (AutoCAD) in coordination with parent IE team
  • Return on Investment / Operational audits for improving flows and productivity
  • Lead the capital planning process for existing and new sites.
  • Provide quarterly/ad hoc updates on expected vs. actual trends.
  • Practice safe work procedures, and follows all safety rules at all times
  • Support automation in sites (sortation, AGVs, MHEs etc.) once the sites are up
  • Future growth potential into EU Maintenance & Facilities engineering position (once sites are mature)

 

What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor's degree with an emphasis in Engineering, Construction Management, Supply Chain Management, Logistics
  • 8 -10 years of experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to travel up to 30-40%.
  • This individual should be detail oriented, with strong analytical and organizational skills, who is also highly results oriented and proactive.
  • Knowledge of regulatory laws and general maintenance best practices
  • Equally important to your success is the ability to effectively communicate with business partners both local and remote; having excellent communication skills; the ability to handle multiple competing priorities; and a strong customer focus.  
  • Excellent project management, time management and multi­tasking skills are required
  • Ability to identify critical paths and execute (these may change weekly)
  • Involvement with senior management both internally and externally
  • Deep knowledge of material handling equipment (Conveyor systems, sortation, Powered Industrial Trucks, Put to Light, WCS applications)
  • Knowledge of CMMS systems – Both system rollout and generating reporting
  • Master's degree with an emphasis in Engineering, Construction Management, Supply Chain Management, Logistics
