Senior Product Manager - Catalog Infrastructure

We are platform builders who own the infrastructure that powers Wayfair's vast product catalog. We own the core merchandising data infrastructure itself, the tools that optimize and transform data within it, and a growing array of cutting-edge services that support critical operations throughout the company (such as personalized site experiences, advanced logistics, highly configurable and made-to-order products, etc.) Our mission is to create stable, scalable, and flexible infrastructure that allows Wayfair to optimally merchandise every product our customers see. If you are interested in solving high-impact operational and technical challenges at the core of a highly-scaled e-commerce business, this is the place to be.

What You'll Do

  • Catalog Infrastructure sits at the heart of Wayfair's e-commerce operations; the way foundational product data is stored, maintained, and accessed touches nearly every area of the business, and either hinders or enables it
  • As a Senior Product Manager for Catalog Infrastructure, you will be responsible for defining the vision for how major areas of Wayfair's catalog will evolve to optimally support the needs of a rapidly growing e-commerce platform with a target rich environment of business and operational challenges
  • The surface area covered by this role is broad and diverse, ranging from building internal services that allow other areas of the business to interact with catalog data at significant scale, to extending our core infrastructure to support strategic product categories that are critical to Wayfair's continued growth (e.g., multi-box products)
  • You will lead problem scoping and discovery across multiple functional areas, drive requirements synthesis, and facilitate prioritization to determine how Wayfair should enhance it's catalog infrastructure to optimize speed-to-value
  • You will act with a high degree of autonomy and ownership, creating strong relationships with senior cross-functional leaders (both technical and non-technical), establishing a shared vision for success, and delivering results that create meaningful business impact
  • You will lead multiple squads of product managers, software engineers and quality testers through the Agile software development life cycle
  • You will directly manage and develop a team of one to two product managers

What You'll Need

  • 5-8+ years of professional experience, with at least 3 years in product management conducting iterative software delivery

    • Past experience playing a lead role in cross-functional initiatives by establishing strong partnerships with peers and senior leaders, effectively setting expectations, managing conflict, and creating buy-in for recommendations
    • Proven ability to take highly complex or ambiguous business problems, successfully lead strategic vision setting, and identify and prioritize near-term actions
  • Proficiency and comfort using SQL or other relational database query language, with an interest to continue growing in this area
  • Strong baseline technical knowledge or technical orientation; very comfortable getting into the details, and learning and implementing new technologies
  • Proven ability to lead an iterative software development team - evidence of creative thinking, independent problem-solving, effective troubleshooting, team motivation, and conflict resolution
  • Past experience in e-commerce and knowledge of e-commerce merchandising (nice-to-have)
  • Past Product experience working with relational databases, complex workflows, and/or internal operational tools (nice-to-have)
