Wave is the world’s first multi-channel virtual entertainment platform for live concerts. Our platform transforms performers into digital avatars in real-time, casting them onto a virtual stage built with stunning visuals and customized interactions that fit each performer’s unique style. These virtual shows are distributed via YouTube, Twitch, Facebook, as well as other major digital and gaming channels.

We’re looking for a seasoned in-house Senior Game Designer to guide development of high level game mechanics and help shepherd design culture at our Los Angeles-based studio. Working with our creative artists, producers, product managers, marketers, engineers and interaction designers, you will develop new kinds of social interactions, gameplay experiences and meta-progression systems for our live virtual concerts. You will mentor other designers, growing their skills and setting standards for devising, documenting, delivering and playtesting world-class gameplay experiences.

  • Collaborate with creative, product and engineering leaders to define long-term product and creative strategy for our virtual concert experiences
  • Define and evolve world-class standards for gameplay and interaction design at Wave
  • Provide key leadership, coaching and hands-on support to other designers
  • Work closely with art, engineering and product teams to enable highly cross-functional development practices
  • Devise and run ideation and prototyping processes that generate new experiences that meet Wave’s creative, business and product needs
  • Manage and evolve production, assessment and reporting processes for new gameplay prototypes
  • Lead on communication of new concepts, processes and outcomes across the studio

Required Qualifications:

  • Relevant education plus 5-10 years of industry experience
  • Proven success in the development and execution of game design for PC, mobile and/or console games
  • Experience in leading a team, mentoring, coaching and providing clear direction and feedback to game designers
  • Extensive hands-on game design experience, including gameplay, content and systems design
  • Excellent visual, written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to drive creativity and innovation, while operating within strategic and commercial goals
  • Excellent time management, problem solving and organizational skills

Desired Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated success designing and optimizing revenue-driving free-to-play experiences on PC, mobile and/or console
  • Experience with live streaming services (Twitch, YouTube, Facebook Live)
