Job Overview

The Technical Project Manager will manage the core tech team who are supporting the game which is being developed in Unreal 4. The focus of the role is to manage the tech team to deliver  the tools and supporting technologies on time.

Reports To

This position reports to the Development Director. 

What will you do?

  • Managing and supporting direct reports

    • Mentoring, Training

    • Recruitment

      • Write and update JDs

      • Perform duties as the Hiring Manager

      • Create and maintain code tests for engineering roles

  • Project scheduling, resource management

  • Career development

  • 1-2-1s

  • Performance assessment

  • Input on pay reviews

  • Input on technical design

  • Technical problem solving

  • Ensuring teams follow tech procedures and policies

  • Ensure code documentation is written and maintained

  • Supporting tech director / lead programmer

    • Identify resource/equipment requirements

    • Highlight efficiency improvements in development

    • Manage implementation of high level technical vision

    • Planning, budgeting and reporting on projects

    • Help with presentations to Executive team about technical vision and project status

    • High-level technical design

  • Supporting non-direct report engineers

    • Input on technical design

    • Technical problem solving

  • Representing Guildford within WG

  • Representing Guildford externally

What are we looking for?

  • 7+ years programming experience in the gaming industry

  • Proven track record in Technical lead/management roles, especially project management.

  • Strong familiarity with Unreal 4 toolchains.

  • Passionate about mentoring technical talent.

  • Great verbal and written communication skills in English.
