Your opportunity  

The Medical Coding Specialist plays a pivotal role within the Finance department, focusing on the accurate assignment of medical codes for billing and reimbursement purposes.  The primary responsibilities include ensuring compliance with coding guidelines, maintaining confidentiality, and contributing to the overall efficiency of the healthcare revenue cycle. 

What You Will Do 

  • Accurately assign ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes to medical diagnoses, procedures, and services. 
  • Conduct regular audits of coded records to ensure accuracy and compliance with coding guidelines. 
  • Communicate effectively with healthcare providers and other team members to clarify documentation and coding details. 
  • Generate coding-related reports for management to track coding accuracy, compliance, and revenue trends. 
  • Stay updated on coding changes, healthcare regulations, and industry updates.  

What will make you successful here  

  • Associate degree  
  • Minimum of 5 years of Professional coding experience in family practice or pediatrics 
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) Required 
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills. 
  • Demonstrated ability to drive organizational growth and meet operational goals. 
  • Financial acumen with experience in budget management and reporting. 
  • Current awareness of healthcare industry trends and regulatory changes. 
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, a sense of ownership and comfortable operating in ambiguity 
  • Solution oriented with the ability to think strategically and creatively in decision-making 
  • Strong work ethic to exceed expectations and goals 
  • Coachable and able to take direction and feedback well, yet being forward-thinking to challenge the status quo 
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality. 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
