VSCO is seeking a technical engineering leader to lead the team responsible for membership journey and overall user experience across our mobile apps. This team manages the navigation, preferences, paywall, user onboarding, and profile features. In addition, this role is responsible for the overall client application architecture across iOS and Android.

The day-to-day

  • Lead and continue building the team responsible for VSCO’s overall membership journey. 
  • Maintain high morale and strong momentum on your immediate team and the broader group, as well as rigorous career-growth support for those you manage and mentor - human-first. 
  • Partner with other staff engineers to make design and architectural decisions on frameworks that will help improve the efficiency of client development.
  • Work with other engineering leaders to oversee and drive agenda and projects for the iOS and Android Guilds.
  • Create and fulfill the engineering hiring plan for your team alongside leadership and People Ops (including sourcing, screening, and interviewing candidates).
  • Partner with the Membership product leadership team (product, design, marketing, and you) to develop and coordinate the longer-term roadmap. 
  • Fuel your curiosity with inquiry and problem-solving to surface opportunities to improve those around you at an individual, team, group, department, and company level.

 

Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience in an engineering leadership role, with hands-on technical management expertise
  • 4+ years shipping mobile applications
  • Experience building best-in-class mobile experiences
  • Experience with source/version control software, continuous integration, unit testing, and build processes
  • Experience with agile and Lean practices and methodologies
  • Strong communication, open and transparent management style

 

Nice to Have

  • Leading teams in virtual or hybrid environments
  • Experience with client-side imaging and video technologies
  • Experience managing client architecture and infrastructure teams
  • Understanding of design systems
  • Experience with cross-platform (iOS and Android) shared libraries
  • A deep appreciation for photography and videography or other creative outlets

Compensation

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors, such as qualifications, experience, and skills. The base salary range for this role is $215,000 - $230,000 USD. Salary is one component of the total compensation package, which includes bonuses (if eligible), equity, flexible time off, and other benefits.
