Vox is looking for motion designers for a new explainer show that will be Vox's first expansion into television. The episodes will be on a broad range of social, political and cultural topics, and motion design and animation will be a central storytelling device. The motion designers will help define the look of the show, collaborating with senior producers to come up with visual ideas and designing and animating scenes in a highly collaborative, fast-paced television environment. Candidates should be imaginative and resourceful, able to handle multiple projects and deadlines, and have a passion for current events and nonfiction storytelling.
The job is full-time and in-house for five to six months, based in New York City.
Roles and responsibilities:
Storyboard, design, and animate scenes for 15-minute episodes
Design and animate charts, timelines and maps
Skills and qualifications:
Mastery of After Effects, Premiere, Illustrator, Photoshop
A razor sharp design sensibility & proven track record of making beautiful things
An interest in Vox’s style of explanatory video journalism
Data viz experience a plus
Illustration a plus
Experience with Cinema 4D a plus
Documentary or journalism experience a plus
Television experience a plus
