We are seeking an outstanding JavaScript engineer. You're a smart, friendly, pragmatic problem-solver who's passionate about making excellent products that are used by millions of people. Additionally, you:
- Have worked on a non-trivial client-side JS app with rich interactive behaviors
- Understand the different ways of connecting rapidly-changing data and the browser DOM
- Have real experience with Node or some other asynchronous programming framework
- Can dig into an open-source project to fork and extend it for your own use (and others!)
- Are familiar with ractive or react-style component systems
- Have created, used, and documented RESTful or Hypermedia APIs
Ideally, you also:
- Enjoy documenting and testing the things you create
- Have built, tried to build, or puzzled over a realtime editing environment
- Have worked with a SQL database both at the statement level and through an ORM
- Get really excited about structured data
- Love emoji and know the minimum character set that MySQL requires to store it
Bonus points for:
- Prior experience on a remote team
- Being a member of an online community, especially one from Vox Media
- Being an active blogger
