SENIOR DIRECTOR, STRATEGIC COMMUNICATIONS

 As a part of our next phase of growth, Vonage seeks to advance our position as the leading provider of communications engagement solutions, and is looking to add a talented senior communications professional to our team. The Senior Director, Strategic Communications will have a passion for crafting narratives that are unique and compelling, which drive awareness and engagement among internal and external stakeholders including media and industry analysts, with the ability to simplify complex topics into easily understood concepts. You will also bring deep experience in executive communications, leading programs, projects and deliverables for CEO and C-Suite leaders. At the same time, you’ll live in a faced-paced, results-driven organization where execution and adhering to deadlines are just as important as getting the strategy and content right.

You must be able to understand and articulate technology topics — Communications Software as a Service (Unified Communications and Contact Center), Communications APIs/5G capabilities/network APIs – and their benefits – to a wide range of audiences, while avoidingindustry jargon.

This is a hands-on, individual contributor role. This person must build trust with executive leadership and will be viewed as a strategic advisor to senior leadership.

Key Responsibilities 

 

  • Work closely with the VP of Corporate Communications to develop a long-term communications strategy and set operational goals in collaboration with internal and external communications leaders
  • Work as the lead storyteller bringing the Vonage story to life through the voices of our executives and subject matter experts.
    Lead Executive Communications for CEO and key C-suite team members including internal communications, external speaking engagements and strategic presentations.
  • Collaborate closely with Internal and External Communications leaders to position our executives as thought leaders across next generation communications and engagement solutions.
  • Develop strong understanding of departmental, divisional, and corporate goals and strategies, and ensure they are integrated into communications and outreach activities.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to create integrated communications plans/campaigns that build awareness, understanding and engagement in support of specific priorities in support of overarching organizational goals.
  • Monitor the development, implementation, and successful integration of all communications plans; elevate our metrics program via KPI development and regular reporting to measure the impact of strategy and tactics.
  • Leverage internal and external communication platforms to relay complicated messages and concept in simplified, easy-to-understand manner using storytelling, video, podcasts, FAQs among other channels
  • Produce/collaborate on production of a variety of individual communications products for internal and external audiences, including writing, editing, and/or publishing communications.

Qualifications 

  • 15+ years of experience, including proven experience building an executive platform in B2B SaaS
  • 8-10+ years of experience developing and writing CEO/executive-level speeches/presentations and other support materials.
  • 8+ years experience in script writing, video, op-eds
  • Strong business acumen to develop strategic corporate presentations.
  • Excellent writing skills, a strong storyteller with a passion for influencing audiences.
  • BA in English, Journalism, or Communications preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Senior person who will roll up their sleeves and get the job done doing everything from execution to highly strategic communications.
  • Superior writing, editing and oral communication skills and ability to translate complex information into clear and effective messaging. Expertise in developing and implementing global business and executive communication strategies; general business acumen
  • Strong communicator and storyteller with a proven track record of building trust with executives while working on complex and confidential projects, preferably in high-growth technology companies
  • Proven experience in influencing and partnering with cross-functional teams of writers, video producers, and subject matter experts
  • Passionate about technology, intellectually curious, and willing to experiment with new platforms to reach our audiences.
  • Problem solver with an ability to cut through the noise and simplify complex narratives.
  • Able to navigate a matrix environment and ambiguous situations.
  • Ability to build tight partnerships with stakeholders across the Communications and Marketing Teams, including External and Internal Communications, Analyst Relations, Brand and Creative team, Product Marketing, Events and beyond.
