Vonage is looking for an ambitious and motivated junior analyst to support the Finance Organization in delivering financial intelligence and operational, process and project execution. The Strategic Financial Analyst role will leverage data and analytics to perform vital support and services in the areas of forecasting and reporting, business process improvement and creative problem solving to help management understand business performance, trends and outlooks.  Our team members develop and apply business understanding and functional expertise to drive operational excellence to help ensure the organization achieves its short-term and long-term goals. 

We need someone who excels at “getting things done” in a dynamic work environment and is comfortable with ambiguity and excited about the opportunity to contribute to Vonage’s long-term success. The Strategic Financial Analyst will work with cross-functional teams on a variety of process improvement projects through data analysis & predictive modeling, gaining valuable professional experience in multiple segments of the business.

What you may get exposure to

  • Working with Vonage’s Finance team members, senior business partners and other stakeholders on a rotation basis to understand business objectives, the current state of business processes and areas where improved data intelligence, technologies, automation or process enhancement may lead to improved workflow and efficiency.
  • Preparing financial forecasts, including budget, expense, or staffing.
  • Assisting with budget development and review.
  • Developing, analyzing and reporting business unit / area expense and profitability metrics.
  • Working with accounting teams to review and track monthly spend by vendor
  • Assisting with preparation of monthly internal financial, accounting and tax reporting 
  • Performing quantitative and qualitative analysis to fully understand current processes, outcomes and business impact.
  • Presenting results of analysis and making cost optimization and/or profitability recommendations to management.
  • Working closely with business, technical and other teams/stakeholders to identify workable and appropriate solutions for business process efficiencies, automation and scaling, and drive efficiency and improvement projects.
  • Coordinating and supporting internal and external resources required to execute and accomplish key special projects by monitoring progress, escalating and/or resolving risks and issues to ensure objectives are met and the expected benefits are realized
  • Maintaining open, active and reliable communication with all stakeholders.

What is required of you

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or pursuit of Bachelor’s Degree) in appropriate field of study: (Finance, Accounting, Economics) or (Management/Business Administration/Communications)
  • Experience with business analysis, and financial modeling, understanding of financial statements and project management
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, v-lookups, etc)
  • Working knowledge of GAAP accounting and financial principles
  • Project management/strategic planning experience - ability to manage several projects/people simultaneously
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently without close supervision
  • Possess enhanced organizational, leadership, management and multi-tasking skills
  • Proven ability to multitask, work under pressure, and meet tight deadlines
  • Great learning skills and curiosity 
  • Enjoys investigating issues, finding simplicity, and identifying innovative solutions.
  • Experience using Google Docs, Sheets, Slides, data visualization shows and Smartsheet is a plus
  • Experience in management consulting environment or financial services sector a plus
