Job Description: 

We are seeking a talented Backend Developer who has handled high-scaled projects and has a strong understanding of software design principles, algorithms, and data structures to join our team. 

As a Backend Developer, you will play a crucial role in developing and maintaining the backend infrastructure and functionality of our conversational commerce platform. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including front-end developers, data analysts, testers, and product managers, to deliver seamless conversational experiences to our users.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and maintain our conversational commerce platform's backend systems and APIs, ensuring scalability, security, and high performance.
  • Collaborate with front-end developers, data analysts, and testers to develop robust features.
  • Implement and optimize APIs for seamless integration with external systems, including payment gateways, inventory management systems, and customer databases.
  • Ensure efficient and reliable data storage and retrieval by working with databases, both SQL and NoSQL and implementing effective data models and caching mechanisms.
  • Implement authentication, authorization, and API security measures to protect user data and prevent unauthorized access.
  • Collaborate with the product team to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions
  • Conduct code reviews, perform unit testing, and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve backend issues, working closely with the team to identify and implement solutions on time.
  • Stay up to date with the latest trends and advancements in conversational AI technologies, e-commerce, and backend development practices, and apply that knowledge to drive innovation and improvement in our platform.

 

Requirements:

  • Education: Master's / Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or IT, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience:  6+ years

 

Required Skills:

  • Backend Development: Strong proficiency and 5+ years of experience in backend Python programming language. You should be comfortable building and maintaining server-side applications and handling APIs, databases, and web services. You should have worked on at least one high-level Python web framework.
  • Web Technologies: Understanding of web development technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. This knowledge is essential for building web-based interfaces.
  • API Development and Integration: Experience in designing, developing, and integrating APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) is crucial. You need to be familiar with RESTful principles and have knowledge of tools like Swagger or Postman. Additionally, proficiency in documenting APIs effectively to provide clear and comprehensive documentation for developers who consume your APIs. Experience with APIGEE to monitor API performance, resolve issues, and track usage is good to have.
  • Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing (NLP): Exposure to Machine learning and familiarity with NLP libraries and frameworks would be beneficial.
  • Chatbot Development: Familiarity with conversational technologies and frameworks such as Dialog Flow, Microsoft Bot Framework, or IBM Watson would be beneficial.
  • Database Management: Proficiency in working with databases, both SQL and NoSQL especially Google Datastore and Google BigQuery is a must. You should be comfortable with data modeling, writing complex queries, and optimizing database performance. Working knowledge of in-memory data structure Redis is good to have.
  • Cloud Computing: Experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) especially with services like Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, Logs Explorer, App Engine, Firebase, Data Store, BigQuery, Cloud SQL, and Cloud Storage is a must. You should be able to deploy and scale your applications, manage serverless functions, and work with cloud-based services. Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation and implementing DevOps practices for cloud infrastructure is desired.
  • Security and Authentication: Understanding of authentication protocols (OAuth, JWT) and secure coding practices. Awareness of potential security vulnerabilities and implementing appropriate security measures to protect user data. Additionally, understanding API security principles and implementing secure practices to protect the API endpoints from unauthorized access, data breaches, and other security threats.
  • Version Control: Proficiency in using version control systems like Git is essential for collaborative development and managing code repositories. Familiarity with Git workflows and branching strategies is beneficial. Experience with continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) pipelines using DevOps tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD) is desired.
  • Agile Development: Familiarity with agile development methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban, and experience working in agile teams. Knowledge of tools like Confluence and Jira for project management, task tracking, and collaboration.
  • Problem-Solving and Troubleshooting: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and resolve technical issues efficiently. Debugging, testing, and optimizing code for performance are critical aspects of the role.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Industry Experience: Familiarity with the specific challenges, trends, and requirements of the conversational commerce industry or e-commerce domain. Previous experience in transactional payments or the e-commerce industry and the integration of conversational interfaces into e-commerce platforms, payments, or applications would be preferred.
