The role and why it matters:

In recent years Vonage has embarked on an ambitious and exciting growth strategy which has led to a significant transformation of the business and most recently, it led to the acquisition by global Telco powerhouse Ericsson.  

Vonage is  looking to hire a full time senior legal counsel focussed on providing Legal support to our global Carrier Management Team (CMT).

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • overseeing a pipeline of CMT deals and negotiating a variety of agreement types including but not limited to, telecommunications related carrier contracts (including SMS related carrier contracts), network operator contracts, and contracts with MVNOs and telecom start-ups, aggregators/wholesalers, service providers/platforms as well as regulators, governments, industry agencies in the telecom/network operator space
  • dealing with regulatory, corporate and commercial matters including relevant local and international licenses and regulatory approvals. 

This role will report to the Senior Director, Legal Counsel, Commercial Legal Affairs and be a part of the Commercial Legal Affairs team within the Legal Department. 

Legal and Business experience :

You will have experience and possess proven ability in:

  • Negotiating with large MNOs (and/or MVNOs)
  • Working in an International arena and be comfortable working with counterparties internationally 
  • Negotiating counter party templates & bespoke agreements
  • understanding of telecoms regulatory landscape
  • SaaS contracting.

What’s required for application:

  • Solicitor or barrister qualified to practice in the UK (7yrs minimum + PQE) 
  • Proven track record working in-house, supporting high-pressure sales driven revenue generating team in fast paced, dynamic technology company
    • Excellent attention to detail
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Strong team player  
    • Established record of employing diplomacy and gravitas to drive consensus and results
    • Proactive, self motivated
    • successfully able to navigate cross functional reviews and approvals as required for differing engagement types
    • Proven ability to multi task numerous engagements 
  • Strong transactional experience in the technology and cloud computing/SaaS areas
  • General knowledge/experience with data privacy and data privacy laws (including GDPR)
  • Strong transactional and management skills, a high level of integrity and  commitment to the highest ethical standards.
