Why this role matters
Vonage is seeking an engineer in an advanced support role to solve voice and network related issues for our top enterprise customers. In this role, the engineer is responsible for resolving customer issues by troubleshooting Voice platform and network issues across Vonage and customer environments. Engineer will be the technical liaison between Vonage and customers and will be deeply engaged with the customers to manage all their technical service related inquiries and escalations by closely working with product, engineering, support and customer success teams at Vonage.

What you will do
Independently manage large and complex projects requiring high levels of functional integration.
Perform lifecycle management of unified communications features, applications, related voice systems and network equipment.
Play a consultative role, helping put in place the right people, processes and tools to define, execute and deliver project success.
Monitor communications and utilization trends, making design and implementation recommendations to improve services and scale infrastructure.
Support the installation of new or modified hardware, operating systems and software applications.
Provide technical guidance and advice to less experienced team members and to colleagues on cross-functional teams.
What you will bring
Deep understanding of networking engineering skills (IPV4, IPv6, BGP, OSPF etc.) including IPSec, DSCP, QOS, SIP NAT traversal and Firewall
Hands-on experience working with BroadWorks, with knowledge in SmartWAN, SBC’s, device and Voice quality monitoring solutions
Experience with packet capturing and protocol analysis (TCP, UDP, ICMP, packet dissection, etc)
Ability to isolate issues by troubleshooting Device, SD-WAN, Firewall, BroadWorks, access SBCs, peering SBCs, carrier and network across Vonage and customer environments.
Advanced knowledge in all the protocols used in VoIP environment such as SIP (using UDP, TCP & TLS), RTP, SRTP, RTCP, DNS, DHCP and NTP
Hands-on experience with monitoring, network diagnostic and network analytics tools
Working knowledge of UNIX and Linux operating systems
Familiarity with scripting languages like shell, Python, PHP and Perl
Excellent business and technical communication skills to interact with business and technology teams on Customer and Vonage side
Demonstrate sound judgment in problem solving, identification, troubleshooting and solutions
Ability to work independently and also in a team environment.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
What is required for application
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related technical field.
Prior experience (7+ years) in a Communications Engineering or related position.
