At Vonage API Platform Group we believe we’ve just scratched the surface of enabling developers to embed communications into any apps or devices using APIs. 

Vonage is looking for a DevOps or SRE expert with hands-on experience building, scaling high available, global infrastructures to pivot to deliver best in class solutions for Vonage's platform. This position would enable you to use the wealth of your previous exprience in Ops to take to the next level within product. Scoping, building and taking to market platform capabilities from secure interconnects through to platform high-availability.

As part of the Vonage team, you will deliver groundbreaking platform products and features to drive the adoption of our CPaaS Platform across the globe. You will be providing the vision and strategy for key areas of the Vonage API Platform and working cross functionally to achieve your vision.  


What you will do


  • Own and deliver the Platform Infrastructure strategy for the Vonage API Platform Group
  • Plan and deliver global availability of the Platform including:
    • High availability
    • Regionalisation
    • Data isolation
  • Support Developer Operations and other Engineering teams in achieving operational excellence through:
    • Managing the Operations team's backlog prioritisation
    • Infrastructure reliability, scalability, performance and efficiency globally
    • Setting and pursuing platform service SLAs
    • Helping engineering teams to build and maintain robust tools, monitoring, alerting and testing capabilities
  • Work with other Product Managers, Dashboard, Business Intelligence, Business Operations, Support, Engineering, Finance & Legal teams to define and build the best-in-class platform solutions and operational excellence
  • Work with Engineering to oversee the delivery of new features and products
  • Integrate user and customer feedback and performance metrics continuously into plans
  • Understand the competitive landscape and how platform capabilities can enable Nexmo to differentiate from its competition

What you will bring

  • Experience building API products or using APIs as a developer
  • Hands-on experience building, scaling high available infrastructures
  • Deep understanding about networks
  • Experience with a fast growing tech industry such as:
    • FinTech, Ecommerce or Payments
    • Telecommunications
    • Enterprise communications esp VoIP, Messaging, Unified Communications
    • Enterprise SaaS such as CRM, Analytics, Campaign Mgt, Collaboration
  • Experience architecting/operating solutions built on various cloud based IaaS providers (AWS, IBM, Google)
  • Experience in compliance, security and regularity needs of a global enterprise platform including but not limited to: ISO27001, SOC2, HIPAA, GDPR
  • Knowledge of key infrastructure technology including: Terraform, Jenkins, Docker, EKS (Kubernetes), Prometheus and Grafana
  • Excellent at building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders 
  • Experience with cloud migration projects is preferred
  • Ability to communicate with simplicity, precision, and empathy
  • Knowledge around these areas (IaaS vendors, cloud configuration & monitoring tools, continuous integration & delivery, containerization, orchestration)
  • Experience with Agile methodologies & tools (e.g. Scrum, Kanban)
  • Experience using Jira, Confluence and project management tools

What is required for application


  • Computer Science degree or similar technical qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a relevant sector and function
  • Minimum 2 years of Product Management experience
  • Previous software development experience at some point in your career
  • Experience building API products or using APIs as a developer


  • Masters Degree in Computer Science or Business Management
