At Volta, we’re on a mission to accelerate the adoption of electric vehicles. Volta's award-winning charging stations benefit brands, consumers, and real-estate locations by providing valuable advertising space to businesses and convenient charging to drivers. Strategically located in places consumers already visit, Volta's chargers are currently the most used electric vehicle charging stations in the United States.

 The Hardware Team: 

Is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to help with the charging station design, assembly, and testing. You will design components and assemblies, create 2D drawings, work with suppliers on Design for Manufacturing and create fixtures for inhouse testing.

Responsibilities:

  • Experience working directly with suppliers in major markets
  • Responsible for running static structural analysis and validating results
  • Experience working with certification bodies (e.g. UL) and their requirements
  • Responsible for performing basic assembly tolerance stack
  • Engage with our industrial design, product development, and manufacturing partners to ensure high quality of ideas and execution
  • Work with our operations and software teams to develop and implement testing procedures for new mechanical and electrical components.

Qualifications:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent work experience
  • Experience with CREO modeling
  • 4 + years experience in sheet metal design
  • Experience conducting tolerance loop analysis 
  • 5 + years experience in mechanics and static structural analysis
  • Experience designing for outdoor environments (e.g. NEMA 3R)
  • Prototyping skills, grinding, drilling, soldering, and building wire harnesses
  • Experience managing design changes using Windchill
  • Excited by the current EV revolution
