We are building a technology platform that allows all investors, regardless of age, net worth, or geography, to access personalized, automated, and intelligent investments across all asset classes. As a critical member to the Investment Strategy team, the Senior Investment Strategist is responsible for developing and refining Vise’s investment strategy and philosophy, partnering closely with quantitative engineering to build investment analytics and fine tune Vise’s custom optimizer. As a strategic partner to Vise’s distribution teams, the Investment Strategy team develops investment collateral and helps drive prospective clients to the finish line.
What you will own:
- Product development and oversight:
- Refine Vise’s investment strategies and product features

- Design new and enhance legacy factor based and systematic strategies
- Support the build, maintenance and oversight of the entire pipeline from market data ingestion, signal/factor calculations, target models/portfolio construction, optimized trades and reporting
- Enhance our tax loss harvesting strategies and assist in building new features for taxable clients (asset location, taxable reporting, features to improve after tax returns, etc.)
- ESG and values based offerings
- Oversee financial datasets (fundamental data, ESG data, market data)
- Partner with product and engineering teams to move projects from concept to production; whether features on the platform or internal proprietary tools
- Design new and enhance legacy factor based and systematic strategies
- Reporting Tools
- Design new and enhance existing portfolio attribution analysis tools
- Improve / evolve the next iteration of portfolio comparison reports
- Auto generate text and exhibits to explain the portfolio, each rebalance, performance, and the implications of different portfolio choices
- Writing, Content Creation & Sales Support

- Write about thematic and investment-related topics
- Identify advisor needs and support cross functional initiatives with Sales/marketing/client service/product team to address those needs:
- White papers, presentations, and other content
- Prioritizing the road map of projects and features we need to build to solve these pain points for advisors
- Sales & client meetings
- Communicate Vise’s investment process internally and externally
- Appearances at conferences, on podcasts and webinars discussing Vise, our investment process and technology
What you will bring on Day 1
- Minimum of 5-7 years’ experience in asset management, with a focus on portfolio management or research in at least one or more of the following areas:
- ETFs
- Individual holdings: Equities mostly, fixed income and other asset classes are a plus
- Tax Loss Harvesting and Tax optimization strategies
- Factor Based Equity investing
- ESG/Values Based investing (exclusions, tilts, religious, thematic, proxy voting)
- Customizing Portfolios to investor needs (Direct Indexing and Custom SMAs)
- Tuning and developing custom trade builder/rebalancer or portfolio optimization tools
- Asset Allocation and Multi-Asset portfolios
- Trading Fixed Income portfolios
- Data-driven mindset:
- Prototyping features for the engineering teams to build into production
- Our production environment is a combination of Python and Go, with the investment and quant teams working mostly in Python.
- Experienced in running analysis via python, SQL, excel, or other high-level language to produce reports, analytics, and research.
- Research oriented curiosity is a must; desire to empirically test everything
- Detail oriented; availability to get deep in the weeds when needed but also be able to condense into the high level summary of the important takeaways
- Strong understanding of financial markets – primarily equity and fixed income
- Excellent communicator, transparent and direct
- Experience writing, presenting, and speaking to clients on a variety of investment topics
- Team focused mindset, eager to collaborate with others to solve problems
- BS Engineering/Finance/Economics or higher degree
- CFA is a plus
Through the internal and market data Vise has collected, we expect the salary range for this position to be $200,000 - $300,000 per year, plus a competitive equity package.
