DRIVE THE DESIGN DIRECTION OF OUR PLATFORM

Product Designers at Vise are obsessed with building a world class user experience to help financial advisors save time, grow their business, and help their clients understand their portfolio. They identify and advocate for solving critical customer problems, discover strategy-driving insights, and build advisor empathy across the company. We just launched the second iteration of our platform, and we’re anxious to begin work on the next generation design of our offering. 

Autonomy is very important to us. As our Head of Product Design, you’ll have the freedom to launch your ideas without a ton of bureaucracy to comb through. This position requires a highly collaborative design leader who is comfortable with strategic thinking and working in the details.  Our designers take a product from ideation to production. You will partner closely with customers, product managers, engineering, and sales in order to drive the continued evolution of our design culture. 

This role reports directly to our Co-Founder and President.

Our office is located in One World Trade in NYC. We support flexible remote and hybrid work arrangements. Our office is open with strict contact tracing and protocols for anyone who chooses to go in.  We require all employees be fully vaccinated, per CDC guidelines, before engaging in in-person work or business related activities. We continue to monitor and follow state and federal Covid-19 guidelines to ensure the safety of our employees and communities.

WHAT YOU WILL OWN:

  • Build a team to execute your design process end to end.
  • Create a clear and compelling vision and strategy for the design organization and design systems
  • Cross functional outcomes with engineering, product, and business teams to define problems & goals, research requirements, map user flows, prototype, and launch new products
  • User research and testing from concepts to usability
  • Maintaining the standard for Design @ Vise, from culture, to process, to quality

DESIGN DELIVERABLES ON THE HORIZON: 

  • Design the foundation for our in-app communication and notifications that help advisors stay one step ahead of their client
  • Help refine a process for sourcing and collecting feedback and ideas from our users
  • Explore new ways to educate our users on Vise’s investment philosophy and decisions our investment engine makes on behalf of the client
  • Iterate on Vise’s visual style and contribute new patterns and components to the ever-evolving design system
  • Work with the rest of the team to set overall company direction, sales goals, and hiring goals

  • You’ve taken abstract ideas and hypotheses and turned them into exceptional products for users and the business
  • You’ve applied research, usability tests, and metrics to inform design decisions
  • You can tell stories about how you’ve navigated to outcomes in ambiguous environments  
  • You have well-formed opinions about design patterns and best practices, UX and UI design
  • You’re a self starter. You’ve identified UX issues and took the initiative to solve them
  • You’ve developed a strong methodology to develop empathy for users 
  • You can easily translate goals into business outcomes 

HOW TO STAND OUT AMONGST OTHERS IN OUR CANDIDATE POOL:

  • Experience building and leading design teams in a startup/growth environment
  • Experience as a researcher supporting early stage, zero to one products
  • Experience mentoring or training others on user research and product design
