This is a key hire in a growing legal department at a fast-paced start up with tremendous growth opportunities. This role will primarily support Supply Chain Operations and Procurement and will work closely with both our business and technical teams.
Drive, lead and negotiate a variety of complex technology transactions (including software, hardware, and biological assets) involving nuanced intellectual property, design portability, data protection and data privacy issues
Counsel business partners on strategic (often urgent) matters; engage with cross functional team to create legal frameworks and strategies, and advise on risk mitigation and negotiation strategies
Streamline contract processes and templates, draft and update templates, policies, playbooks, and other projects as needed
Stay up to date on relevant industry, commercial, IP, privacy, and other laws, regulations, and developments
Education and/or Experience
5+ years of relevant legal, in-house and law firm experience
Significant experience in technology transactions, commercial transactions, and intellectual property
Excellent drafting and negotiation skills
The ability to think critically and apply creative solutions
Sound business judgment and extraordinary communications and interpersonal skills aimed at the senior executive level
Experience advising clients on legal and contractual issues impacting business transactions, with a track record of building business relationships and gaining trust of internal clients
The ability to synthesize complex issues and influence and lead across functions (both business and legal)
Analytic rigor and ability to get things done (fast); superior time-management and organization skills; the ability to prioritize and lead several simultaneous projects under deadline; ability to self-start and lead projects
