Summary
We are now looking to hire a Lab Assistant / Device Tester for a temporary position on its assay development team. The Lab Assistant/ Device Tester will execute a variety of tasks in support of the development team. This position reports to the Director, Assay Integration.
Essential Duties
Carrying out test protocols on integrated Visby devices or modules under the guidance of a scientist or engineer including clear and timely communication of results
Taking detailed notes on failure modes and key observables on the device. Reporting bugs as necessary.
Working with biohazardous materials and infectious agents (BSL-2 level pathogenic organisms and clinical samples). This may involve preparing samples, making dilutions, creating sample pools, decontaminating work spaces etc.
Running laboratory instrumentation in support of development experiments
Running simple engineering experiments under the guidance of a scientist or engineer
Assisting with general lab maintenance such as cleaning and decontamination
Following protocols: Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Good Laboratory Practice(GLP), Good Documentation Practice (GDP) including recording all data and results from experiments in a laboratory notebook, and all pertinent internal and external regulatory guidelines
Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in a scientific field.
BS in biological science (or related) preferred, not required
