Virtue is looking for the next great creative director.

This position isn’t for the untested. You must be able to lead a team and thrive under the pressure cooker of independence. We’re looking for someone who is fully dedicated to making great work. They are thrilled by the possibility of managing a healthy account and seeks out any opportunity to  generate growth, have a critical eye for creative work and ultimately sets the quality standard for their teams.

The ideal candidate is a creative who has the triad of conceptual development skills, executional craft skills, and people management skills. This creative director’s specialty lies in copy, but they also have an excellent eye for detail and knows great art direction when they see it. Attention to detail and an innate drive to care are crucial. He or she gets excellent creative output from creatives at all levels and makers of all disciplines.

The creative director helps to set the vision for the client or project in partnership with the account team, helping to shape the cross-functional team dynamic to create the best work for the least pain. Clients see he or she as a trusted advisor and authority in creative principles. This creative director has the backbone to help inform the strategy that results in the BEST creative opportunities. They keep their team on brief and show them how to think more strategically, inspiring them along the way. He or she also manages the long term growth and happiness of the creative team.

The Must Haves:

This person is a magician. The moment they pick up a marker and hit the whiteboard, the ideas flow, and not just for them, but for everybody else in the room too.

The right candidate will first and foremost be a teacher. One who knows their craft – and the ins and outs of passing down their trade. They epitomize WE before ME, act flexibly, and are very passionate. They are part time charmer and part time psychologist, able to handle the seesawing of personalities to keep team morale on the up and up.

This is a client-facing role so a big personality will come in handy. You must be very comfortable presenting and particularly good at thinking on the fly. You must also be a leading voice in inter-agency meetings, capable of pushing back with the right amount of finesse to elevate the work and keep the client on their toes. Clients should see you as a trusted advisor. You should have the ability to take in feedback and prioritize it into actionable steps for your team.

The Requirements:

  • 8-10 years agency experience as a creative.
  • A background in copy but an understanding and eye for good art direction.
  • Can create big ideas and the tactics that accompany them. And then sell them in.
  • Emotionally intelligent with the ability to manage other creatives.
  • Solutions oriented. Knows how to deal with feedback and relay it to their team.
  • Strong knowledge of digital production and experience with video shoots.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Pragmatic but inspired.
  • Has a diversified background and a variety of interests to draw inspiration from.
  • CPG, Beauty, Fashion or Luxury experience is a plus, but let’s see what else you’ve got!
