Virta is the first company with a clinically-proven treatment to safely and sustainably reverse type-2 diabetes without the use of medications or surgery. The Director of Clinical Training & Development will be responsible for creating and executing a strategy to efficiently and effectively onboard & train our staff of front-line employees (coaches, enrollment advisors, physicians and nurse practitioners) as we scale to safely improve hundreds of thousands of patients’ metabolic health.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement new hire onboarding & training for our front-line employees (enrollment advisors, health coaches, physicians and nurse practitioners)
  • Create ongoing learning & development strategy, curriculum development, and execution for tenured team members (e.g. health coaches, enrollment advisors, medical staff)
  • Define key functional areas for each role and implement a certification process with appropriate benchmarks to demonstrate core competencies
  • Partner with team leads to establish a content delivery framework and timeline
  • Design a robust training program for managers, mentors, and emerging leaders
  • Partner with Operational leaders to identify gaps and create ad-hoc trainings as needed, especially when new products/workflows/processes are rolled out  
  • Own the systems for scaling clinician-facing education to maintain efficacy while minimizing cost
  • Develop and maintain the delivery and facilitation of clinical education in a fully remote environment
  • Develop and maintain internal knowledge bases
  • Identify, train, develop, and manage trainers and mentors
  • Develop and implement trainings to support cross-team collaboration
  • Define and develop mentoring philosophy and create mentoring training program to support onboarding & training
  • Build systems to continue to scale and improve on a strong culture of patient care and service excellence
  • Integrate best practices from service-driven organizations and tech-driven services in order to effectively scale

90 Day Plan

Within your first 90 days at Virta, we expect you will do the following:

  • Understand the Virta treatment, our core philosophies and the strategy to scale so that these can be integrated into the onboarding experience
  • Design the onboarding & training program for new hires within systems that can scale onboarding throughput by at least 2x without sacrificing quality
  • Develop assessments for both onboarding and ongoing education
  • Establish content delivery framework to achieve measurable self-efficacy and drive autonomy and engagement for each role
  • Reduce cost (human hours) per onboarded team member 
  • Ensure consistency of service delivery by developing scorecards and benchmarks across teams
  • Create strong relationships with the current mentor team and collaborate with them to create clear roles and responsibilities for the mentors
  • Improve ramp up time within each role to achieve full utilization within 45 days

Must-Haves

  • 5+ years experience building and implementing Learning & Development Programming in a high-growth company
  • 3+ years of management experience
  • Experience with LMS system(s)
  • Strong project management experience with demonstrated ability to execute with cross-functional teams
  • Experience creating and managing scalable programs utilizing best in class learning management technologies
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with all levels of employees and management
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, comfortable with high volume workload and willing to "roll up your sleeves”
  • Comfort with working with all types of content in a fast-moving environment
