Vimeo is looking for an ambitious lawyer to tackle a wide range of cutting-edge matters arising from user-generated content hosted on Vimeo, including issues relating to intermediary liability, copyrighted content, and user safety. You’ll work with our Trust & Safety and Engineering teams to evaluate and ensure compliance with a dynamic and developing legal landscape governing user-generated content. 

What you’ll do:

  • Provide legal advice on global legislative, regulatory and other developments relating to intermediary liability, copyright protection, user-generated content, marketplaces, user safety, and child safety issues.
  • Monitor developments in global regulations and provide proactive guidance on regulatory trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Handle responses to U.S. and international law enforcement requests, regulatory information requests, and required reporting.
  • Advise operations teams on legal questions around content removals, including unlawful content and community guidelines violations.
  • Develop and improve scalable training materials, macros, and workflows for legal issues and escalations, including partnering with our Trust & Safety teams to update and translate internal policies (such as our Community Guidelines) into actionable processes.
  • Organize and lead cross-functional teams to implement new compliance initiatives.

Skills and knowledge you should possess:

  • Admitted to practice law in NY (or have the ability to be admitted as authorized in-house counsel in NY).
  • 5+ years of legal experience, including government, in-house and/or law firm experience advising technology companies.
  • Working knowledge of legal issues relating to platform liability, including the DMCA, DSA, and EU Copyright Directive.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams to achieve ambitious goals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail, influencing and problem resolution skills.

Targeted Base Salary Range: $122,400.00 to $187,000.00

The base salary range listed above is for candidates located in the U.S., including the New York City metro area.
