Customer Engineering is a small team that focuses on ensuring our customers have the best experience possible at all times. As a Customer Engineer you will be a technical point of contact for our customers and internal stakeholders. What you’ll do:

  • Work closely with other engineers across various teams to provide fixes and improvements to the live video platform enabling significant gains to reliability, scalability and performance
  • Triage and support issues surfaced from Vimeo Live Enterprise customers
  • Identify root cause of reported issues and route to the appropriate technical team
  • Continually improve internal tooling and documentation to empower support teams
  • Be part of a world class group of engineers who build and maintain Vimeo’s video playback and delivery solutions

Skills and knowledge you should possess:

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Proven track record as a self-starter and independent developer with understanding how to prioritize tasks
  • Strong problem solving abilities combined with the ability to confidently jump across various parts of the video and product infrastructure
  • Capable of writing tests for complex systems to ensure continued and measurable stability
  • Experience with PHP, SQL, JS (React) and cloud infrastructure (GCP/AWS)
  • Experience mentoring others through architectural guidance and code reviews
  • Passion for Vimeo and our creative community

Bonus points: 

  • Experience with various video delivery methods (DASH, HLS, Live/VOD)
  • Consistently keeping up with CDN technology, deployment techniques and data driven development techniques
