We're looking for a seasoned backend engineer to join Vimeo and work on the services and infrastructure that powers Vimeo Live and Livestream. It's a chance to step into a challenging role, working to improve reliability and scalability for live video, while working alongside talented and amazing peers.
The work itself is varied and rewarding, covering the entire live video pipeline, from ingestion to delivery. You'll architect and build microservices, update CI and deployments, improve our eyes and ears, and ultimately move the needle on several fronts. Along the way, you'll dig deep into share-nothing architectures, distributed systems, API design, and the fast-moving world of video.
Rounding out the experience, you'll join a tight-knit, agile team based in Brooklyn, where we enjoy our eclectic neighborhood, exceptional coffee, down-to-earth atmosphere, and healthy work/life ethos. We're serious about our work, but we can't help but have some fun along the way.
Build, improve, and maintain the live video pipeline, including ingestion, transcoding, packaging, and delivery.
Architect and rollout new services. Surgically enhance legacy software.

Keep pace with video technology.
Be a team player.
Experience building APIs, services, asynchronous workers, etc.
Cloud and infrastructure skills, GCP or AWS.
Great communication skills.
Passion for software quality.
Video technology background is a big plus.
