VICE News is looking for three general assignment reporters to join our digital newsroom. The position will require you to cover a wide range of subjects, with the goal of developing a few main beats as the job evolves. We're looking for reporters who are thorough, passionate, ambitious, and fast, with a shown history of scoops or differentiated coverage.
You should have an interest in multimedia and alternative story formats, and should be excited to contribute to larger projects, including data-driven stories, FOIA reporting, and narrative features. This is a visual newsroom, so this position requires close collaboration with our video teams and our TV shows.
Roles and responsibilities:
- You will produce consistent and impactful breaking news and daily coverage
- You will report from the field as necessary
- You will communicate with VICE News’ video and audio teams
- You will collaborate on multimedia projects
- You will have at least one year of experience as a reporter, preferably covering a beat at a large media organization
- You're able to work under tight deadlines
- Familiarity with social media is a plus
- You show an ability to report quickly and accurately
- You will write conversationally for a young, savvy audience
