Vicarious Surgical is hiring a Director of Software Engineering to join our team in Waltham, MA. As the Director of Software Engineering, you will lead all aspects of the software engineering process including requirements, design, development, and software testing for our innovative surgical robot. This is a hands-on technical leadership role where you will lead development of robust requirements, architecture, and design of our surgical robot using model-driven engineering (MDE) techniques. The successful candidate will be expected to collaborate cross-functionally across the organization to develop top quality products on our roadmap.

Manage and lead the software engineering team that include requirements, design, development and test.
Mentor managers who are developing their direct reports on the application of model-driven engineering using UML and create model-driven architecture (MDA) and automated testing.
Support integration of automation test frameworks including ATDD/BDD tools like Cucumber etc.
Build and scale the Software Engineering team in skills and size commensurate to the scope and complexity of our products.
Work with senior R & D leadership to develop technical roadmap, strategic objectives and plans for clear deliverables.
Manage external partnerships when needed.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
10+ years of experience in a software leadership position in a highly regulated industry, some experience in the medical device industry is helpful.
Previous experience leading teams through model-driven software architecture, design, and automated testing from prototype to product release.
