Viam is building a new platform to make robotics more approachable to engineers of all backgrounds, empowering thousands of startups to achieve their robotic visions. We're taking on the hard software challenges, enabling engineers to build modular, practical robots efficiently and cost effectively. We're working on integrating hardware and software in new ways, giving engineers much greater abilities to accomplish their goals. At the same time, we're trying to increase the pace of innovation by bringing costs down tremendously.

As the Head of Digital Content & Strategy, you will be responsible for Viam’s social media strategy. Robots and what they can do running on Viam will be the most compelling and coolest source material you have ever worked with, and we have limitless possibilities to leverage social media to drive awareness for the potential of robotics. This candidate knows all the social channels, how to run cross-platform campaigns that tweak visual content to maximize each, and is adept at both executing content on their own and directing a team of content creators. This person will work closely with developer advocates who help our social content creation, cross-functionally with the product team, and report to the CMO.  

You'll be:

  • Generally, finding creative visual ways to tell the robotics story and get software engineers excited about working with robotics
  • Work to develop and refine our social strategy, constantly iterating and leveraging data to determine where we invest organic efforts across TikTok, Twitch, Youtube as well as less visual platforms
  • Leading strategy for a team of developer advocate content creators as well as creating content yourself
  • Establishing a regular cadence and posting calendar for social
  • Constantly trying new ideas and approaches, never becoming complacent in your social tactics
  • Maintain awareness of new social media marketing techniques being used, as well as look for opportunities to innovate and develop new techniques
  • Collaborating across marketing, product and people teams

We're looking for someone who:

  • Has 5+ years of professional experience; agency experience preferred
  • Can demonstrate strong knowledge of all major social media platforms – you have a history of growing social media profiles and accounts
  • Is eager to test and learn on new platforms and across teams (Influencer, Paid Social, Content Lab)
  • Has experience owning the full content process (calendars, community content)
  • Is comfortable working as an individual contributor with social content as well as managing and directing a team of content creators
  • Is curious by nature and is driven to take creative tasks from ideation to completion, including learning new approaches to achieve the desired results
  • Has an affinity for big ideas and taking risks
  • Is not afraid to voice professional opinion when it conflicts with leadership
