Via is using technology to transform transportation around the world. From changing a single person’s daily commute to reducing humanity’s collective environmental footprint — we’ve got huge goals.
As the Grants Manager on Via’s Strategy Team, you will work with our Policy and Partnerships teams to connect and intelligently apply federal, state, local, and private grant opportunities to support and grow Via’s innovative transportation deployments. Working with senior members of the Strategy Team, you will leverage your understanding of grant processes and Via’s existing customers to determine: which partner may be best positioned to capitalize on each grant opportunity, how we might best support each grant application, and how best to position the value of our technology in the context of the grant parameters. Significant opportunity to own the process: from grant digestion to proposal submission and beyond.
What You'll Do:
- Apply your strategic thinking skills and work closely with Via’s Policy and Partnerships teams to shepherd meaningful funding opportunities through their procurement processes and allow Via to capitalize on available funding:
- Work with Policy to process and digest grant opportunities before they are released. Fully understand the goals of the program and what they might support.
- Work with Policy to communicate upcoming and present grant opportunities to the Partnerships and Partners Success teams.
- Maintain a thorough knowledge of Via’s existing partnership base within the United States, with the possibility to expand coverage to international opportunities.
- Identify opportunities to “pair” a particular partner with an appropriate grant opportunity, including consideration of how we might use grants to identify and acquire new partners.
- Represent the grant opportunity on calls with the potential partner and articulately describe how we can add value and support them in the grant writing process.
- Skillfully manage subsequent communications with potential partners over the phone and email.
- Coordinate assistance of proposal preparations, whether content provision to the partner or a more active, Via-led effort in partnership with Via’s RFX (proposal response) team.
- Support senior team members during any interviews as part of the grant evaluation process.
Who You Are:
- An exceptional communicator (both verbal and written) with an instinctive appreciation for tone and structure.
- Socially-minded, action-oriented, and passionate about urbanism; you understand the importance of public transit and are motivated to improve worldwide access to mobility.
- Meticulous and strategic; you can pay attention to every detail in a complex grant opportunity or project while, at the same time, relate each of them to the big picture in a coherent way.
- A record of academic achievement, preferably in the humanities, social sciences, or another field that required regular long-form writing (undergraduate degree required; advanced degree preferred).
- Passionate about Via’s mission and highly enthusiastic about the opportunity to drive significant growth by winning competitive grants.
- You are comfortable balancing multiple projects at one time.
- A minimum of one year of full-time work experience in a dynamic work environment; prior experience at a startup, transportation consulting firm, management consulting firm, or in the public sector is a plus.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Final salary will be determined by the candidate’s experience, knowledge, and skills. Salary reflected does not include equity or variable pay, where applicable
- Salary Range: $115,000-$155,000
