Senior Legal Counsel
VGW is a fast-growing technology company and creator of market-leading online social games. With offices across Australia, USA, Canada, Malta and the Philippines we are on a mission to be the biggest gaming company in the world!
Due to major growth we are expanding our Legal team in Perth and currently looking for a Senior Legal Counsel to join the team.
As a Senior Legal Counsel at VGW, you will partner closely with the business to provide pragmatic legal and commercial advice, with a specific focus on Intellectual Property.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Providing high-quality commercial, technology and IP-related legal advice and support to the business
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a range of commercial agreements and advising the business on key issues, including IP and marketing
- Proactively monitoring and advising on changes in IP law that are likely to impact the organisation
- Assist with tasks related to contentious IP matters, including providing support to the IP Manager where required
- Assisting with the supervision, support and development of junior team members
- Managing and working effectively with external legal advisers
What you will bring to the role:
- You have 5-7 years PQE with relevant experience at a top-tier law firm or specialist IP firm or strong relevant in-house experience
- You are admitted as a lawyer to practise in Australia
- You specialise in, or have worked extensively across, IP law
- You have strong drafting and negotiation skills
- You have excellent commercial judgement and communication skills
- You are a strong problem solver with the ability to view problems holistically
