We're looking for a high-energy Sales Development Rep (SDR) to empower our sales team! We're looking for a go-getter who has incredible drive, is highly motivated and who is an independent worker that needs little oversight to stay on task. The role would be part-time and compensated both hourly and via commission of any leads brought in that we close.The company is Vermillion Sky - an innovative app development firm based in NYC. We partner with well-funded Entrepreneurs or businesses looking to expand their digital offering, and strategize, design and develop custom technologies. We're a young and fun team, and you'll have a lot of autonomy to develop this role and have a huge impact on Vermillion's growth.The SDR role will support our C-suite and Sales execs. They will need to complete in-depth research, qualify leads, develop communication, do outbound outreach, and stay highly organized. The goal is to pass on warm leads who fit our ideal client-type to the VP for them to close. We'll give you all the tools you need to succeed, as long as you're hungry and excited to talk about tech all day!An ideal candidate will have the following:
  • 2-3 years of direct sales experience, preferably with VP/Exec/C-suite level contacts
  • Highly comfortable with cold calls or cold outreach
  • An entrepreneurial mindset
  • Has been in roles with expectations to self-manage and self-motivate
  • Technical knowledge or experience; Ease having a discussion with a CTO about their technology needs
  • Knowledge of app development or digital products a plus!


  • Follow-up on inbound marketing leads and identify qualified opportunities providing appropriate levels of information at the right time for interested prospects
  • Be responsible for educating and developing prospects leading to hand-off to sales teams
  • Create target prospects lists and penetrate key accounts
  • Cold call into prospects generated by variety of outside sources
  • Identify key players, researching and obtaining business requirements, and presenting solutions to begin sales cycle
  • Profile strategic accounts identifying key individuals, researching and obtaining business requirements and presenting solutions to start the sales cycle
  • Set appointments for Vermillion Sky sales team when a lead reaches a qualified stage
  • Nurture new marketing leads by educating and developing prospects until they are ready to speak with a field sales rep
  • Drive attendance for webinars and live seminars, set meetings for conferences
  • Collaborate with sales and marketing team members on strategic sales approach
  • Ensure successful follow through of sales cycle by maintaining accurate activity and lead qualification information in CRM application


This entry-level position requires an ambitious self-starter and someone that can effectively process inbound inquiries and identify qualified leads and opportunities. Relationship selling skills, with the ability to manage sales calls at varying levels of customer accounts, are essential.

  • 1+ year of successful experience in the software development field
  • Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written, coupled with excellent listening skills and a positive and energetic phone and video chat presence
  • Demonstrated success in prospecting into fresh technology accounts
  • Extremely self-motivated with a diligent work ethic
  • High level of integrity and strong commitment to building a successful company
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Adept computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Experience with CRM applications preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred, high school diploma or equivalent required
