Responsibilities

The Strategic Finance team is a set of approximately a dozen “decathletes” – often ex bankers, consultants and FP&A professionals who are skilled in a wide range of disciplines. As the leader of this team, you will play a crucial role in driving a set of financial and operational improvements for our rapidly growing business as we look to go public and beyond.  This role is a critical leadership role that directly reports to the CFO.

Responsibilities include:

  • Financial planning & strategy – drive our financial planning processes and adapt the underlying financial forecast model for the growing complexity of the business
  • Reporting: help develop and track financial and KPI metrics for the Executive team and others, and communicate actionable insights to relevant stakeholders.
  • Capital raising and external investor communications –  drive engagement with external parties including equity and debt investors
  • Business unit engagement –  be a strategic partner for specific departments to help solve ad hoc analytical problems and be the main point of contact for finance support
  • Executive collaboration –  Work alongside our CEO, CFO, and executive team to establish a strategic roadmap and growth targets for the business
  • Get sh*t done – Despite being over 1800 employees, we’re still in scrappy startup mode. There’s a lot of rolling up your sleeves and getting into the weeds to drive direct impact on a daily basis. We knock out today’s problems while also balancing our need to build for the long-term. We accomplish this through hard work, being clear on what’s worth tackling and what’s not, and ensuring high talent density in Strategic Finance and across Verkada

Qualifications: 

  • 12+ years of professional experience Proven track record of building and growing strategic finance / FP&A teams within a high growth technology business (preferably enterprise software, but not required)
  • Raw smarts  we are looking for people with strong business acumen who can approach complex problems and solve them from start to finish.
  • High attention to detail -  at Verkada, we pride ourselves on first principles thinking and sweating the details as the keys to business results. This leader should excel in these areas and set a standard for others. 
  • Flexibility -  you are comfortable working in a fast-paced startup environment that will require you to manage competing priorities, pivot quickly and often, mentor smart (but inexperienced) talent junior in their career
  • Dynamic communicator the role requires you to be able to influence a wide range of people from sales to engineering to operations. You need to be comfortable taking a view and arguing for it strongly
  • High academic achievement from a leading university – Top-tier MBA is a plus.
  • Convenient commute to San Mateo, CA – the role is based in our San Mateo HQ, where the finance team is in office 5 days a week (with occasional exceptions). It’s important you live close enough to transit here every day.

Pay Disclosure

At Verkada, we want to attract and retain the best employees, and compensate them in a way that appropriately and fairly values their individual contribution to the company. With that in mind, we carefully consider a number of factors to determine the appropriate starting pay for an employee, including their primary work location and an assessment of a candidate’s skills and experience, as well as market demands and internal parity. This estimate can vary based on the factors described above, so the actual starting annual base salary may be above or below this range. This estimate is also just one component of Verkada’s total rewards package. A Verkada employee may be eligible for additional forms of compensation, depending on their role, including sales incentives, discretionary bonuses, and/or equity in the company in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).
