The Senior Director – Digital and Social Communications is responsible for conceiving, evolving and executing Verisign’s digital and social media PR strategy. Reporting to the VP and Chief Communications Officer, the Senior Director leads the team that develops and delivers Verisign’s social media PR strategy, leveraging Verisign’s web properties and social channels.

The Senior Director will continuously review and evaluate the performance of social and digital campaigns and serve as the lead advisor on how to improve and expand digital and social reach, with a focus on leveraging that reach to achieve core business objectives. In addition, the Senior Director serves as a key liaison to marketing teams, working to help them execute effective social marketing campaigns that are consistent with the company’s principles and mission. The Senior Director is also the company lead for developing and delivering multimedia assets, including video and other emerging media to further enhance the company’s storytelling. 

Key responsibilities:

  • Serves as the company lead for social and digital PR strategy.
  • Conceive and deliver effective, resonant social media messages and campaigns. Oversee all aspects of public-facing social media communication. Develop effective tools and strategies for listening, outreach, and persuasion.
  • Lead the development and deployment of effective digital storytelling assets, including video, infographics, and other emerging digital media.
  • Oversee Versign.com and other key web properties. Ensure effective digital communication through web properties. 

Essential experience, skills and education:

  • 12 or more years related business experience
  • 4 or more years managerial experience
  • Extensive knowledge of modern social and digital media tools and platforms
  • Deep knowledge of communication theories, concepts, principles and methodologies
  • Knowledge of leveraging video and multimedia to tell effective stories
  • Understanding of how to oversee and evolve a corporate or organizational Web site
  • In-depth knowledge of Verisign marketing and business strategies and goals
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail
  • Strong leadership and negotiation skills
  • Strong proofreading and editing skills
  • 4 year Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Communications or a related field, or equivalent work experience; Graduate Degree preferred
